And… It starts. Would it be hyperbole to suggest that we may just be watching the beginnings of WWIII? I can’t see Iran brushing these threats and actions off with calm rational strategies.

Eh, this activity in Syria is pretty normal. Occasionally it makes regional news, but rarely you see it in global news.

nope. Thats exactly why u maintain proxy forces. If ur proxy gets desintegrated…its not nice but u dont start a war over that.

The US not responding forcefully and decisively is way more likely to start WWIII.

Showing weakness, holding back, and playing it soft does nothing but present our enemies with opportunity and a false hope that going to war with us would actually be advantageous. The notion that an enemy will be totally obliterated if they attack us and our allies is the best motivator for working towards peaceful coexistence there is. All this hemming and hawing, delaying, and waffling coming from our current government is just showing our enemies that we are weak and disorganized and lack any resolve.

Notably, the US is not responding with overwhelming force. There was a relatively small attack on US bases, and the US responded with a few targeted attacks on the militia bases. Proportionate responce. Deterence is maintained.

Ahaha, I will eat my shoe if the US isn’t responsible for the start of ww3.

By my reading, four days ago drone attacks injured a dozen US troops. Then this happened. Today, or last night, the US withdrew from 8 sites in Syria.
