Highly recommend this game. It got better once they started allowing you to quicksave and checkpoint your progress at towns/outposts. Prepare to die. A lot. Live and drink, friend.

A game which I have started numerous times, and then bounced off of due to the archaic control interface. One of these days I’m going to have to knuckle under and learn how to interact with it, as the concept is cool as hell, and I’m sure the controls become intuitive with practice.

Caves of Qud has gotten more approachable than ever, thanks to a complete UI overhaul, gamepad control implementation, and a currently in-beta tutorial that’ll arrive in full with the 1.0 launch.

Might be worth going back to once 1.0 launches

        gamepad control implementation

That’s huge. Every time I tried playing it, it gave me a strong “bedtime game” vibe and I just wanted to play it on my Steam Deck.

This game is super cool, I love the idea, the concept, the vibe etc. However it is also hard as balls. Be prepared to die often and not really know what to do in order to not die. I’ve started it a couple of times, but even with longer play sessions didn’t get very far.
