Do some research on other countries. The US is actually really open. Some countries have point systems, so you need some combination of enough assets, a degree, an in demand profession, a family lineage to the country, speaking the main language, or having a job offer.
Even if they don’t have a point system many countries require documentation that you won’t be a financial burden on the country to get in.
I know very well what other countries’ policies are. To say the US has a good system because its less terrible or restrictive isn’t a good argument. It’s still a nightmare for those seeking asylum or otherwise

What? I am not making that point. It is harder in many places. That is not a valid argument for the current US system which is slow and cruel.
