I’m an atheist, and although I detest organized religions, I don’t think this is religion. This is about control and power, fascism. Religion is a tool and a red herring.

While I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, religion is being used as a weapon the same way racism is used. Take groups who already don’t align because of prejudice, and light the fire. So while the people pulling strings may have a more sinister agenda, the people who are actually involved on the ground are seriously doing this because of religion, racism, and a long long history of taking an eye for an eye.

This happens all over the world for various reasons. “Don’t let the baddies get in! Those people stole your land! Vote for me! Buy my product! Worship this god! Freedom!”

Seems I am incorrect, according to Ilan Pappe,

There were many factors that contributed to the success of Zionism and the international support enjoyed by the newly formed Zionist state. The Holocaust, and in particular Western guilt, Islamophobia, capitalist and industrialist interests, and American support, all played their role. But these were factors that sustained and protected the project rather than facilitating its very inception. The alliance between Evangelical Christians, on both sides of the Atlantic, the British ruling classes (and in particular the Anglo Jewish leadership and aristocracy) was there to enable the inception of the Zionization of Palestine.

Bingo. Israel legit only exists because in Christianity the end days cannot come if Israel does not exist, so allied powers said fuck it let’s give it a little shove and both create Israel and give it to Jews.

Palestinians have multiple religions (around five if you count Samaritans and the polytheistic Arab traditions still followed in the Arabian Desert in southern Palestine). The European Jews even hurt Palestinian Jews until they started identifying as Israelis. They even stole children from the Middle Eastern Jews saying they can breed more later.

To still say this is a matter of religion is absolutely crazy when you consider facts. This is only considered religious by European populations as 1500 years of Christianity led them to believe all Jews come from a single race but don’t do this for other religions.

It can be both bud. Saying it’s not religious when it’s quite literally drawn by ethnoreligious lines it’s just objectively wrong.

Sure there’s a heirarchy but that doesn’t negate the fact that 98% of conflict in the middle East comes from religion and the other 2% is like petrodollar fueds.

Similarly you can in fact be racially Jewish in as well as religiously Jewish, or both.

Exactly, “ethnic” Jews ( who can be of any religions or atheists) are part of this situation . It’s not like Christian Palestinians have not faced hardships. People here are quick to say Israeli Muslims have rights as citizens, so this is not about Jews vs Muslims but Israelis (regardless of religiousness) vs Palestinians.

The biggest **religious **claim here is that all Jews descend from a Levantine tribe thousands of years ago.

it was sarcasm. these wars are about power and territory, first. The religion aspect makes it easier to rile people up, but afaik before the settlers arrived the entire area was religiously diverse. I’d even argue racism is a larger factor here than the religious aspect.

This is sad, but the trauma is on both sides of the border.

It’s easy to flaunt bodycounts as Israel is defending itself using Iron Dome to avoid most potential damage. Remember Hamas has lit the fuse on all of this on their October 7th attack. Hamas terrorists are hiding and acting from underneath hospitals and schools . Hamas has fired 7000 rockets towards Israeli cities on the first two weeks of the war and is continuing to do so still. At Israeli cities. Also, Hamas terrorists intentionally group their launches to make it difficult for iron dome to intercept large numbers of rockets fired simultaneously.

It is neither hollow nor insincere.

Hamas attacked Israel civilians because they hate Israel. They don’t give a flying fuck about the Palestinians you are touting they do this for. If they would actually care for them, they wouldn’t dress like civilians, wouldn’t put their launch sites in or near civilian buildings AND would share their massive resources with the civilian population.

I know that you and your club, Tokenboomer, don’t care about a single word I said.

Obviously what Hamas does is terrible but the fact that Israel is doing the same shit as a terrorist organisation while causing magnitudes more death and suffering which will also create more support for Hamas in Palestine is quite telling.

Indiscriminate bombardment of civilians is NEVER “defending”… it’s just mass murder and terrorism. That is never acceptable under any circumstance.

There is no indiscriminate bombing of civilians. If there was indiscriminate bombing of civilians, the Gaza Strip would be gone already - several times over. They could have carpet bombed the whole area and then destroyed the Hamas tunnels with bunker buster bombs.

The ONLY party that gains something from dead civilians is Hamas.

The idea that the bombing is not indiscriminate because they haven’t levelled the whole area is wild to me. You could even drop a single bomb indiscriminately.

Care to estimate the percentage of Palestinian casualties that were actually members of Hamas? This is what gives the hint about whether it’s really indiscriminate bombing.

The people being killed aren’t associated with Hamas. How is Israel any better than a terrorist state? Please tell me how you can defend a country that allowed aide to be brought in to the Gaza strip, only to immediately bomb the bakery it was sent to. They’re fucking vile and shame on Biden for not calling out these atrocious war crimes.

Christian Zionism originated in England at least two decades before anything resembling Jewish Zionism appeared. So yeah… I guess England does deserve a lot of blame for this. But they are not the ones stuffing the kapo state with hundreds of billions in mass-murder money.
