When I was younger, I mostly thought depression meant people feeling really sad all the time.
Now I have it, and the truth is that while sadness is sometimes present… This meme is actually the majority of the experience. Pleasurable things just… Fade and stop being pleasurable. Sadness fades too. Happiness fades. You crave a new feeling or experience, you invest money into a personal gaming rig, or a guitar, or a new phone, or a travel experience to Peru, and you get a tiny glimpse of what things should feel like… And then they too vanish.
for me it’s just buying a game i always wanted to try but I can’t bring myself to play it after the first time. the same goes for my hobbies, the plans i make for anything.

I bought a PS5 just to play the God of War sequel over a year ago.
I still haven’t played it beyond the first hour or so.
Or you make plans and you’re all excited and then the day comes and you’d rather do anything else.
A lot of it is just not feeling anything. i.e anhedonia/numbness
