Follow-up from “Dumbest Thing you have done distro-hopping?”.

Here’s mine - the laptop from which I’m typing right now has a broken touchpad that keeps jumping and clicking randomly, and does not work. Well, I can’t afford to fix it, but at the moment, I was so pissed off I punched the touchpad really hard, and the machine panicked with all the lights blinking. A few more revival abuses, and the machine was back to life, but since I was running a nixos-rebuild switch --upgrade in the background, I blew off my boot partition. I think I just broke the unbreakable distro.

Basically the same about the last 20+ years or so… I use Linux since 1998 (Slackware); migrated to Debian around 2001-2002; still using it in 2023. The 2 only Linux distro I can stand are opensuse & arch. For me, fuck red hat/fedora/Ubuntu… Same bugged shit as Windows! Btw, fuck Flatpak & Wayland too!

For a long time debian, but after wheezy I turned sour and started hopping. Devuan, antiX, artix, void, obarun, joborun. Devuan turned nasty untrustworthy soon, antiX is still my favorite debian, artix appeared faking the init-war, void took a downturn adopting elogind, so for the past 6y obarun, joborun in the past 1.5, and antiX on the side keeping up with development and runit adaptation.

I like the idea behind arch and pacman, but I’m trying to stay clear of large corporate dominating systems (systemd, qt, zstd, etc.) I try to use as many alternatives as I can, keep the unix ideals up, small, specific, contained, doing one thing only instead of being system layers trying to contol everything.
