The atheist’s comments continue an irresponsible pattern of demonizing one religion while celebrating the one he grew up with

Dawkins stopped representing us a long, long time ago. He made some good points for a while, and then got so enamored of his own celebrity that he stopped being skeptical of his own thoughts. It’s sad to watch his decline, but he’s no longer relevant.

Honestly surprised at this. First time I hear about Dawkins in a decade and he calls a religion decent.

And he’s transphobic. What a world.

I couldn’t get it from comments, why people are not supporting this statement.

Can we agree that Buddhism is more fundamentally decent than Christianity.

If yes, then we should agree on this statement too.

Certainly some religions are less shittier.

Based on my admittedly incomplete readings of the Bible and the Quran, they’re pretty close to equivalent. The Quran, if anything, leans harder into telling people not to be a dick.

The practitioners are roughly equivalent, too. You can find peace lovers and warmongers in both. I think the ratios are a bit different, but that’s not down to the content of the religion but the context of the believers. Islam is newer, it’s dominant largely in areas that are geographically and economically disadvantaged.

It seems to me that people who are doing well, have stable lives, tend to be more peaceful in general. It also seems to me that the older a religion, the more peaceful because the practitioners have had enough time to chill out.
