Throwing shade at other creators about data quality the same week they publish incorrect data.
Trust us bro attitude when it comes to warranty.
Tone-deaf responses to working condition complaints including the statement this week where they effectively said “The external HR company we paid to review our HR policies and internal communication said we did nothing wrong and if anyone says anything to contradict us we believe we have grounds for a lawsuit.”
Selling prototype hardware at an auction after the manufacturer requested several times over several months to return or pay us.

As far as I know, there is no documentation or corroboration to back up “The Madison Thing”.

I didn’t know there was an update a couple of days ago.

It’s a bit weird that ltt published their own summary of the independent investigation. If they don’t publish the real report, can’t they just make shit up?

Maybe there’s law for this or something and the report is not just privileged between the firm and their client. Or maybe Madison has access to it since they are involved. 🤷‍♂️.

I wonder if there will be a response from Madison. Hard to tell. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence so I have no idea if the claims were true or not. And the “threat” to sue them isn’t that great for Madison. Or anyone who might consider speaking against that company in the future.

Nothing says innocent like threatening with lawsuits…

It’s got big corp, reputation at all costs over doing the right thing vibes. The latter is reflective and willing to improve even if things aren’t bad, but could be better.

People will make their minds up based on how much they trust them. Personally, I don’t.

I think there was some ethical drama in his company a while ago, which might have been recently answered 🤷‍♂️

I personally didn’t like the very few videos I saw of him, it looked like g@mer consumerist obsessions. The latest I saw was about the last Fairphone release and he was very critical about what I’d call very reasonable design choices, like capping the screen to 60Hz instead of max 90 by default, or having to turn the phone off to swap SD card. This video felt like it was not an honest criticism or intended to a very niche audience (eg. hot swapping SD cards might be critical in the eyes of someone producing video content).

I just watched the fair phone review, I don’t think it was a terrible review. Some parts I disagreed with, but I think the presenter was fairly upfront with their biases

I think mention of small things like needing to take the battery out to swap the cards, was just a comment on the design philosophy rather than a deal-breaker. Plus for YouTube video they need content find things to both promote and detract

I did like how they indicated the SOC has 15 years of support from Qualcomm, I honestly didn’t know it was that long That’s amazing

Certainly if you don’t like the review no need to watch the channel, I just don’t understand how that translates into hate

It’s not like I hate it but it felt like a review target for a specific audience and with little journalistic work. I was a bit disappointed because he is often refered to be one of the most serious and unbiaised tech reviewers on the internet.

But yeah, that was a first impression indeed.
