Mobile technology provides people with crucial access to everyday tasks like making calls, sending texts, and internet banking. But the federal government does not consider it an essential service, which means telcos do not have to provide a minimum level of service.

    Minimum levels of service in Australia can be difficult. We’re a large sparse country with many mobile black spots. People should rent a satellite phone or epirb if traveling the outback, it’s a dangerous place to have an emergency.
