Original WSJ article is behind a paywall.

A Chinese commercial ship is suspected of deliberately dragging its anchor to cut undersea cables that connect countries over the internet, The Wall Street Journal reports.

International investigators reportedly believe the crew aboard Yi Peng 3, a bulk carrier full of Russian fertilizer, dragged its anchor for more than 100 miles across the Baltic seabed, damaging the cables that run across it. Two different internet links — one between Sweden’s Gotland Island and Lithuania, and another between Finland and Germany — stopped working earlier this month, prompting the investigation by authorities from all four countries and other nations.

[…]

It’s not the first time European officials have suspected Russia of undersea infrastructure sabotage since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But officials have been hesitant to accuse the Kremlin outright of interference, the Journal reports, in part for fear of further escalating tensions between Russia and Europe.

What is this take… that was not my take at all. The intention was misunderstood, there was a misunderstanding of the language used. Primarily, it was a joke. I certainly do not believe there is a “the powerful” side.

    You could have asked🤷

I do not know what you assumed… but I am confused because I have no concept to what you have referenced. Is there anything in particular which was offensive here? Do elaborate. I can say however that I do not know what it is, and I certainly did not mean what you believed I meant (because I do not believe there is one “the powerful” side). Unless, of course, you object to the use of all general terms. Like ‘the royalty’. ‘The general public’ in any general sense. ‘The people’, again, in any general sense.

I get a feeling that I have offended some political thing I have no idea about. When I have no such relation to any such thing, if it is really so.

If it was intended as a joke, I don’t see what would indicate it as such.

There are comments and people that like to spin this story. So I assume that’s what the comment was. Meaning what it’s saying.

I do ask when things are unclear or to open up the other party to elaborate on their views or meanings. I don’t know what I could have asked here though.

I took no [personal] offense. I replied because I did not want to let that outlandish, divisive, conspiracy claim stand without any refute or criticism.

Another thing I remembered, it so happens. The origin of ‘minion’. It is derived from ‘mignon’ which meant darling, but was started to be used in a derogatory way by people who wanted to offend a particular group or something else. The new meaning of the word was born.

In this case I’m an unfortunate person who called my loved one ‘mignon’ without knowing what this new thing was, that such a thing ever happened.

I still feel it would be better to ask next time. I hope you see now I was innocent of such… doings.

I personally found the “the fuck” to be an aggressive, offended tone but that could be a misunderstanding on my part. From what I’m used to, I’ve personally seen that phrase used by people who are against something, intensely, in particular.

As for what you have referenced, it so happens that I have seen no such person saying any such thing. I was referencing no such thing.

…do some people really believe everything is controlled by a small exclusive group? Interesting. Lol that I can disagree with wholly. I hope this clarifies the earlier matter.
