They already have a F2P model with the free trial. Allowing that or a limited access model for those who give up their subscription would be a nice option. Even a low-scale sub.
The game already had tons of micro-transactions (some mounts cost more than 2 months of a subscription). There’s also a ton of nonsense currencies.
Best part of the game is the community and the world.
I agree. If this game was F2P I would love it. It sucks that you have to buy a subscription and pay for the expansions.
I miss the world but hate the fact that I have to pay for my time. If I have to work long or other stuff comes up that month it feels like a waste.
Plus the subscription is too expensive for what it offers. For $13 you can get a lot of great games on sale and a big selection of indie titles, feels like a better investment.

Your starting origin does little besides dialogue options. So outside of the intro you can ignore all differences.
The game is limited till you complete the heist with Dex. That heist is also story heavy so just be prepared.
Your best option is to get Phantom Liberty. You can skip to the mid-point of the game that way and just ignore the story and fight stuff. The whole city is opened.
There is no real post-game so finishing the story isn’t important of you want to mess around.
Story does have some great moments so slow down the fast forward button now and then ;)

Why use any human-like image then? A lot of amateur fashion designer on instagram use mannequins or busts. The models are serving a purpose. Removing them means someone loses a job.
If we look at this from top-down you’re right because the company is saving a cost. But from the bottom-up, you’ve just become more expendable. This leads into the arguments others have been making, what happens when eventually people can’t work? And why should we use technology to serve the few and not the many?
They frame this article in such a weird way. Like replacing the models and their jobs was justified because they had egos etc…
I can see similar framing used to replace other workers because they want to be paid fairly or do something drastic like take bathroom breaks… :D

It seems we need to just let this all run longer and see what happens. Currently we have no real way to detect AI in media beside disclosures and the silly mistakes like 20 fingers. This all relies on the creator (Not hard to edit a photo to clean up those hands etc)
I think a lot of creatives are struggling so they just feel shut out of the conversation. Copyright is probably the one thing most people can understand as a talking point.
I think we still have some time before we see which way will work. Ideally we could always augment the laws… but yeah, America and stuff.
Sadly no matter what, the big media companies are going to have a huge advantage in everything because of decades of lobbying etc.
I think people should still be able to profit from selling the image themselves, however, I don’t think we have enough knowledge on how AI will truly impact things. If it becomes a minor fad and is just a tool to help speed a process I think the law doesn’t need to change much.
If AI becomes the majority creator on projects then we have to have this conversation about who owns what.
Close models will probably be the future, much like stock photos, and people will have to pay to access the models.
In the end big business will always fuck us over, copyright or not.
I believe a person can still sell or market art that is AI created. I just believe they shouldn’t have total ownership of the work.
Already most creators don’t fret over fanart or fanfiction so there is wiggle room for fair-use. It’s a lot like the game modding scene. Usually modders use pre-existing assets or code to create something new.
Let people play but not own AI work for now.
I agree that AI work should not have copyright protection. Even with human intervention it still collects data, without expressed permission, from numerous sources.
This will actually protect smaller artists. It will prevent giant companies from profiting from their work without credit or payment.
Someome needs to make this into a satire of Hallmark movies. Two gay dads, one a former journalist, save the corrupt small town just in time for christmas.
