Its the kind of thing thats very difficult to solve since not everyone gets it and seems like it pops up randomly (havent been able to clearly reproduce it yet)

Were you also on mobile firefox using the site? Or was the firefox you were using on pc

Are you able to log in and stay logged in on one of the alternate frontends? E.g. https://a.programming.dev

Do you have anything that would clear cookies or mess with the jwt you get from logging in in some way?

Since mods and admins can’t control what gets hashtagged it can hashtag the completely wrong things

For example we have a community called c/loud. This is a cloud community but will be hashtagged with #loud

We also have a community called c/meta and similar other communities but the hashtag should be something similar to programming.dev meta since meta itself doesn’t make sense. Currently its assuming you know what scope of meta you’re in due to it being attached to the instance but hashtags are free for alls so the hashtag is going to be impossible to follow (other communities that fall within this are comics, events, books as they are programming or programming.dev specific which is currently assumed due to the url)

No, things are moving along though (pictrs upgrade was just completed). Again I’m not going to give a date were going to upgrade at apart from warning before we do so since it won’t be followed due to us all being volunteers and things changing due to issues coming up

0.19.4 is annoying since it adds the hashtag additions where posts are auto hashtagged with the community name. I was aiming to Ideally remove that from the codebase before we upgrade but we might have to upgrade with that in it

If a community is shown with proper data its working and probably hidden (the one thats broken, nytimes, doesnt have correct data since its missing the stats and mod list)

But yeah lemmy has terrible UX for hidden communities atm

Yeah, I go through and hide things every once in awhile by looking though communities in the database with some queries

BBC is hidden since i just went though and hid them. Sub and youll see all the posts. Hackaday isnt fetching posts looks like (did anyone sub previously?)

The last one should be scientificamerican instead of scientificamerica and seems to be functioning but hidden so sub and youll see the posts

Federation seems to be working, just that one specific community broke for some reason

All these communities fall under the realm of things I hide from the main feeds though since its majority bot content so at some point youll have to subscribe to see the posts

No precise date, it’s basically just when we feel its been thoroughly tested to make sure its actually stable and I don’t want to give a deadline that might get missed if we want to wait a tiny bit longer due to some reports

But yeah probably 1-2 weeks if theres no issues

0.19.4 ended up causing issues so we never updated to it while some other instances did and those require the 0.19.5 fixes more than we do currently

edit: modded adr1an and dwraf to start off since I like to start communities with two mods. They can choose what they want to do past that. Ill be the primary mod for a bit and then will transfer that to someone in the future

In order for posts to show up at least 1 person has to have subscribed to the community from this instance

I just subscribed to it which made it load the correct banner + community icon and I assume new posts should start federating when they get made

I assume less people will have subscribed from here to any lemmy.eco.br communities since we tend to have a lot more english users and the br instances have content mostly in portuguese

The comment language is set to german, do you have that disabled in your language settings?

Sometimes federation takes a bit, especially from some of the instances that go down more like feddit.de

Were defederated from threads due to the community vote that voted to do so

As well, Lemmy cant view threads posts so even if this instance was federated with threads theres another thing stopping it and that is stopping every other instance from viewing all of the content (comments to lemmy posts show up but nothing else atm)

The 2m there is extremely inflated to to bot sign up spam. Back when instances were getting set up in the reddit migration there was some people that started mass signing up accounts on instances with weak security. Fediverse observer doesnt care about any of that and just shows user accounts regardless of what happens on the instance

Fedidb has a much more accurate count at ~ 400k https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy since they exclude these bot spammed instances. They also have a monthly active user count (~ 38k) based on what instances report for that stat
