Asking as someone who is absolutely not tech proficient compared to most lemmy users: is this a vulnerability with Linux or Discord specifically, or is this something that could be carried out on any OS/messenger if the computer was infected?

The two headed guy with a… dunce cap? on is a special touch.
Jayzus, imagine the square footage of coca plants it would take to get that yield.
La La Land. Musicals are already on thin ice, but a musical about some arrogant, self obsessed people complaining about how hard it is trying to be (and ultimately succeeding in being) successful?? UGH. Shut it all down.
School: if it wasn’t a Macintosh Plus it was something like it. We were given very little time with it and had to go to a special computer room to use them so I don’t remember a lot of specifics about it, beyond the school tech guy having to painstakingly load each program we wanted to use manually from a floppy
Home: Windows 3.1. I don’t think we got the internet until Windows 95, though
Agreed, it took a decent chunk of therapy for me to figure out that a lot of times I was reversing cause and effect. I’m not anxious about xyz because of whatever rationalization I came up with, it’s literally just my body dumping adrenaline and my brain looking for an explanation for why.
It’s usually something setting off memories of childhood abuse and tossing me into fight/flight/freeze mode. The “why” isn’t really the trigger itself so much as my brain having issues with hypervigilance.
Assuming you’re in the US since you mention cost. I know therapy can be really hard to access, especially if you don’t have good insurance and/or aren’t close to an urban area. Your city or county may have mental health services like low cost therapy, or be able to give you referrals for it.
You do seem like you want to talk about it, I’m assuming anyway since you made this post. A good therapist that you vibe with is going to be someone you want to talk to just as much (if not more) than anyone on this post, and they’ll be able to bring up perspectives on your thoughts you hadn’t considered before.
You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to obviously, and if you live in a place with really terrible mental health services there’s not really anything you can do about that. But if the feelings you’re describing in your OP are something that’s upsetting you that you want to change, I’d encourage you to do what you can to try to access therapy.
Have you spoken to a therapist about these feelings? Things like depression can make negative thoughts seem much more real and reasonable than they actually are.
I mean, if you’re terminally ill and dying next week I guess it’s possible those are realistic thoughts. But if that’s not the case then that sounds much more like doom spiraling to me.
Concept artist Sam Santala pointed out that you can’t raise a support request to discuss the terms without first agreeing to them. You can’t even uninstall the apps!
Well, at least they made this as easy as possible to challenge in court.
But given the way AI bros behave I suspect this is a smash and grab. The penalties don’t matter if they get to keep the goods in the form of generative AI training.
The biggest problem with AI alt text is that it lacks the ability to determine and add in context, which is particularly important in social media image descriptions. But people adding useless alt text isn’t exactly a new thing either. If people treat this as a starting place for adding an alt text description and not a “click it and I don’t have to think about it” solution I’m massively in support of it.
Some important context here is that this is an effort to deal with terribly behaving British tourists, since the same bylaw also bans walking around nude or only in underwear. In addition to just being terrible tourists generally, there’s a history of British tourists treating Spanish beaches like their personal vacationing grounds and not a different country where other people live and speak a different language.
Europol, are you for real? You’re using Matrix-esque backgrounds on official photo releases for this? 😭
Literally none of it has to do with peer pressure or pool parties generally, and I’m not sure why you think the article should spend any time on it.
He was experiencing severe gender dysphoria, which was made worse by the situation making him more aware of his chest and knowing it was going to take ages to get surgery. Nobody is saying it was a great decision that everyone should do.
If you think I’m going to find this cute you’re going to have to try it on someone else.
Not to be an ass here but the article states pretty clearly in the first line that it was due to the surgery wait time. The pool party is only tangentially related.

Oh my god, I read the first line and whispered ‘noooo!!’ 😱 That makes me laying in bed, paranoid and staring at the ceiling for 12 hours from my first edible sound like a walk in the park.
Did you ever try weed again, or was that it for you? Because that might have put me off it for good!
Your mom knows what’s up. You can’t undo sun damage, and anyone that cares what you look like while mowing the lawn is a grade A weirdo.
Hidden Fortress by Akira Kurosawa. It’s still enjoyable today IMO, and you can really see how some of the characters are a direct line to Star Wars characters.
We did those shitty fundraising sales the entire 6 years I was in elementary school with the promise of more playground equipment and finally when I was in 5th grade they put up a single slide. In hindsight someone had to be skimming off the top there.
