1 but it’s Disney and I only pick it up when there’s a new show. I immediately cancel it when the show is done.

Care to articulate on that?
2 years is my guess.
Lower the price???
It’s about a unified message and unified ideology; it’s not about having everyone on one website.
Federating with an entity that is publicly traded and has shareholders to answer to surely has a goal of endless profit growth - that’s the nature of capitalism. The current spirit of the fediverse is one not driven by profits. What we have now will very likely change into something that doesn’t resemble our current experience once it’s engulfed by Meta.
You have evidence that I’m wrong, correct?
LMAO… “bribes”… no, I have no evidence of “bribes.” I don’t have any evidence of a financial incentive either, as very clearly evident by my phrasing starting with “I bet…” I’m simply relying on 40 years of not having my head completely up my own ass to make some inferences about things, and if I’m wrong, then I’m wrong. I think you’re being intentionally obtuse. None of this really is impactful, but you sure seem to have an agenda.
I wouldn’t call that a good reason to team up with Meta, but I would call it a plausible. Everyone does not want to federate with the largest social media company in the world, I can promise you that. If you like federation, you’d probably like it to not be engulfed by megacorps (unless you stand to profit from it).
I think I’ve logged in for a collective 15 minutes. I deleted it about 45 minutes ago.
Are you truly incapable of acknowledging that large bags of money motivate people to do unpopular things sometimes?
I really don’t care about Mastadon as I haven’t used it much, but I couldn’t really think of a good reason for federating with Meta.
Yea I was really confused to read that. I’m on Kbin / Lemmy significantly more than I log in to Mastadon (I think I’ve opened that app 5 times in the past year), so now I guess I’ll just delete Mastadon.
I bet he’s getting a big bag of money.
Not sure yet. I just visited WA. I loved Seattle but it seems like everywhere that’s not Seattle is somewhat neglected. I5 is a piece of shit.
WA was at the top of my list but it is not anymore. I guess I’ll go check out Colorado in a couple of months.
To move out of state (FL).
I’m supposed to be on an airplane on December 1st. If the storm ends up happening on the 1st instead of the 30th, could that potentially mess with air traffic controllers and radio comms in the plane?
Indeed. A lot of the bigger companies are able to successfully mitigate a ton of those attacks. Healthcare again and again fails at most things IT related however. There’s a very discernible pattern.
If only there was a way to take healthcare out of the hands of for profit institutions… 🤔
To add on to your point, if they were paying for a full staff of competent IT operations and security, there’s a solid chance this would have probably not happened in the first place.
That’s called capitalism.
How much will the level of protective custody he’d require cost the taxpayers? If he ends up in jail, all of us are footing the bill.
