Teens and many people don’t know that there is a world without ads. They have to be educated that there are alternatives - not watching youtube is a real option. You do not depend on it.

I’s a horrible world many people live in. Recently I saw someone browsing on instagram, each third post is an ad and oftentimes there are ads after ads. And people follow other people and watch their ads. Incredible!

I can’t say specifics about aurora-dx. Aurora got added to the official bluefin repo, I don’t think it’ll go away any time soon. https://github.com/NiHaiden/aurora if it becomes obsolete, just rebase to another atomic variant and layer your packages. It’s hassle free and only one reboot (and one pin for backup) away.

You shouldn’t layer any random package. You shiuld layer packages that you need and are useful for the system. Even if those are 100 packages. If you need them, you need them. Some packages can be installed via distrobox but you know that already, I guess.

One reason is privacy and hence security. If you share a package, you also share the information that your system contains the oudtated package “xy” which has a backdoor and can be accessed by a hacker.

I’m not sure if that is a valid argument with atomic image distros since you share the whole image. And the tracker could just disable the old image as soon as the new image arrives.

I don’t support that some want to push their own theme. Just use the provided theme. You may create your own custom theme but that should be able to be used everywhere. App icons can be part of a theme.

Androids can generate a qr code as well. I guess it’s the same result but non-tech people can use it. This would be cool if it was part of KDE/GNOME or a somewhat standalone app.

I can’t find the source right now. It’s about the whole app installation process. They prefer play store. Aurora store isn’t enough. I guess fdroid isn’t good because fdroid signs every apk. Haven’t read it in a while. Iirc, their stance was that every app should have its own updater.
