For that chrome book like experience, the genuinely think Chrome OS flex is probably a better option for most people (privacy concerns not withstanding).

One that always stood out to me was the ending of the Tom Cruise war or the world’s movie.

Now to be clear, this is not a good film and I don’t recommend that anyone bothers to go watch it, but a criticism I regularly saw was that the ending was bad - the aliens all just die suddenly.

That was literally the only thing that film got right from the source material. They changed literally everything else in an attempt to modernise it, it didn’t work but they at least kept the ending and that’s the bit people didn’t like.

I think if you’re comparing open world games to open world games then yeah, BOTW doesn’t do anything too terribl differenty, but when you compare BOTW to other Zelda games then it’s very different and that’s where the criticism comes from.

Personally I feel BOTW is a very competent open world game, probably one of the better ones I’ve played but I still didn’t gel with it because I was already strongly feeling fatigued from too many games becoming open world and not making that leap particularly well (Mass Effect Andromeda and FFXV coming to mind for me personally), what I wanted was a more traditional Zelda game and that’s simply not what BOTW was.

I don’t think Sony is making much more money than Microsoft is, though. They may have sold twice the consoles, but the generation is brutal in terms of actual profits.

Honestly 95% of Jira complaints are because people have crap workflows configured. Out of the box Jira is pretty terrible but it’s very customisable and you need to adjust it to suit your needs - and they have to be your needs and workflows.

That being said, there’s that last 5% that Jira just gets in the way. If anyone has ever had multiple teams working on a single product, Jira is very prescribed about how you’re supposed to structure that and If you don’t, it’s a pain.

I used this within smart tube for a while, but honestly I kind of missed some of the clockbait titles. There problem I faced was that it wasn’t clear when a title had been replaced or not, so when you did find a video with a relatively clockbait titles, it gave you a bit of a false sense of security. I also found that sometimes the crowd sourced titles were just boring, albeit accurate.

Maybe I’m just weird or maybe I’ve just been browsing YouTube for so long that I’m used to it, but for now it’s an addon I’ll skip, though I’m very glad it exists.

I used OSMC for years going back to when it was still raspbmc, got the first Vero and then the 4k model.

They were never perfect and hassle free, a lot of which I put down to Kodi itself. I love the idea of Kodi, but the base interface is lacking (especially when you have a big collection) and most of the fancy front-ends / skins I tried would run too slow and once again bring back the shoddy TV experience I was trying to avoid. It also does not support streaming services like Netflix or Disney+ in any usable capacity. Kodi has a rich add-on ecosystem, which usually means you can plug some gaps but the add-ons have a habit of just breaking out of the blue or during major upgrades. I’ve had to have Kodi index my library so many times that I got sick of it ruining film night.

Eventually I bought an Nvidia shield, still using Kodi at first but switching between Plex, jellyfin and emby until I settled on emby for my local content. Being able to use other streaming services was a bonus and the hardware was good enough that it doesn’t feel sluggish.

You can also install 3rd party apps like smart tube for an excellent YouTube experience (and now my preferred way to watch YouTube).

The shield is starting to show it’s age big time (it doesn’t support HDR on YouTube, for example) but sadly outside of the USA there isn’t really any devices that match or beat it - you keep hearing about that Wal-Mart device being brilliant but that’s US only.

So in short, get a good android TV box for the best experience and the most options.

Sure, but Microsoft has since contributed a lot to Linux and other open source projects. That’s not me saying “oh they’ve changed!”, that’s me saying they’ve made it significantly harder on themselves to bring legal action against because they’ve publicly endorsed and supported the project for so long.

Well it’s more like you’ll get the usable parts without a huge premium. The was a time when monitors faster than 60hz were premium but now it’s pretty common to see 120hz and beyond on even basic monitors.

There’s still diminishing returns as you go higher, but there’s definitely a noticeable difference between 60hz and 120hz, as well as a less noticeable but noticeable difference between 120hz and 240hz.240hz is becoming more standard now on regular high end monitors and beginning to trickle down too.

Beyond that in terms of response times, you might not notice a difference between 240hz and 360hz, but image clarity will be better because you’ll get less ghosting just from the virtue of the pixels changing so quickly, so it’s not entirely useless.

Part of the reason you’re seeing this is because they can. The panel technology (OLED in this case) is super fast due to it’s design, so it’s not too costly to add the necessary hardware to drive those speeds. For LCD tech, you do get to drive the panels faster and harder, that’s why older screens required shitty TN panels to get those refresh rates, but everything else has been around for a while.

He’s got a point though, equally why not just link directly to the credible source instead of posting a biased source and expecting people separate the bias themselves?

Did it, though? They certainly got called out, but as far as I can see his content is still growing.

Unfortunately that is not a workable solution to me, but I appreciate that it’s the best idea for most.

I actually have a HP printer with instant ink. When it first launched it was great, there was a “free” tier that was like up to 10 pages free per month.

I don’t print a lot but like having a printer for the odd job so that was ideal for me. Now and again a new ink cartridge would arrive and I just didn’t think about it.

But they took away the free tier, so I’ve been on that £0.99 plan which is like 15 pages a month. I put up with it because it was convenient enough to not have to worry about ink, but I was still pissed off at the rug pull.

If they do raise the price in the UK, I’ll just sell the printer and buy a new one that does super cheap ink.

Yup I hear that. I know they use different video titles because they’ve talked about that on the show a few times, but having worked in a very SEO-driven business myself, I would be surprised if they don’t pay attention to all of the metrics - including numbers of unsubscribers (Which you can get a breakdown of per video) and things like that.

In this line of business, there’s always some amount of churn/attrition, you literally cannot please everyone when your audience is tens or even hundreds of millions of people. The best you can do is aim for the net gain/growth and when you don’t hit that, learn from it.

You’re doing the right thing by unsubscribing, if you’re not enjoying the content or engaging with it, that’ll literally tell them as much. The only issue is if that same content is engaging with more other people, there’s a good chance they won’t miss you as a subscriber. Which sucks, but that’s just business. It’s one of the reasons why so many youtube channels have gone downhill, because you end up invariably chasing the numbers and the numbers are decidedly mainstream. LTT is firmly in that camp now.

Why do you think that? None of this is new, they’ve been using clickbaity headlines and thumbnails for years and years now.
