The secret to living to 110 was, don’t register your death.
yeah lol
short version: almost all “very old humans” are just dead and never register their deaths
This hurts to read. As a lefty, I read these “studies” my whole life. The statistic that doesn’t show here is the one I remember most: that lefties are much more likely to commit suicide than righties. Also none of these mention the sociological factors here. How until very(!) recently, lots of people were forced into right-handedness by schools or church. I would guess that this plays a big part in these numbers. Especially when viewing the gendered handedness. Would be interesting to examine that more.
“Stop worrying what other people think” is bad advice anyway. It’s not like that’s a possibility for people with anxiety. Give concrete advice: self affirmation, reflective writing, journaling positive feedback…
i’ll save this comment to look back on it when it’s actually time. this all sounds so well-thought-out. i’m really humbled by your thoughtful advice
thanks! I wasn’t sure what to expect when asking this. i feel very old and i’m happy that nobody made fun of me but you’re providing help to me in a kind and generous way! have a good one
great points. thanks! would you know a price point i should have in mind for a mobo? i am not playing the latest and greatest games and not rendering videos, would like upgradability especially with ram.
i guess I would. my CPU is as old as the MoBo. its a I7 4770K (which came out in 2013 RIP), i think that proves i made a great investment back then for my PC to still run great after 10+ years Oo…
so. For dumb people like me (or just for me to be clear), how do I play those games? i watched the video and read the site. there’s a link to the MM gamefiles on GitHub, but the video said you still need the ROMs? or this RT64? I’m old and apparently at some point, you just lose tech savvyness… :( can I get a step-by-step?
in the same way that everything has a farther-reaching platform, I guess. I am not sure if the proportions are really different. Nazis were in the streets, graffiti, stickers, music, newspapers… they always have a platform as long as it’s profitable.
you’re correct, it is a louder problem now. and a more pressing one. but i’m not sure if it’s “worse”
“I made a mistake and had to take the consequences. However I now know better than anyone else, because I am the first person to ever have this thought.”
One estimate in 2017 suggested humans could be eating up to 15,000 CWD-infected animals a year in the
Yeah, no, eating animals is surely never a bad idea. They compare it to the BSE cases that caused years and years of consequences.
True to the spirit of mandalas, destroy them. It’s not about the finished object, it’s about the process.
Or wrap presents into the paper. Or make greeting cards
i’ll be philosophical here: yourself. never be done. never stop changing. bever be finished. to be alive is to be in motion.
well I wonder what excuse all the AI fuckbois have for this one.
You make a < and the thing you want to quote
But just saying: I said the greed is a factor, not the only thing causing a disaster. But usually you’ll find someone has cut corners, didn’t do maintenance, didn’t follow regulations, didn’t employ enough people…
Mostly banks, oil and war machinery.
9/11 was a huge boost for the military suppliers, housing crisis got some financial institutions very rich for betting on the collapse. COVID mostly made medical suppliers rich, but also boosted weapons sales (more policing, border control…).
Usually it’s pretty easy to see, you just have to look for the interests. Also you can look at the laws and decisions that get passed after these events. Something like a plane crash or titanic sinking is more difficult. But you can usually say that people got rich before that happened and that’s usually one of the reasons it’s happening in the first place.
A fun and informative podcast for such information is “well there’s your problem” which talks about engineering disasters and the aftermath (it’s also very funny)
i have a BA in english and I used to teach esl… i wasn’t even thinking that could’ve been wrong. it felt correct to me. well…i’m gonna leave the title as is, since i appreciate the jokes about it here ^^
i love this pedantic but correct statement <3
there should be some more potentially
Imagine saying “it dishonours the victims” to one of the actual victims
