The people in charge of the program are getting fired, and an outside consulting firm is being hired to investigate. So, I imagine there will be a follow up later on with more details on that front.

It doesn’t inspire confidence that there wasn’t the oversight to prevent this however. These are human remains, not widgets.

I was thinking the same thing. This seems like investigative journalism that’s more public and without the ethics and rigor part.

It really depends. One tenant could have an ant problem because another adjacent tenant is attracting them, which the landlord needs to address. If the structure has decaying wood, that can attract carpenter ants which is a landlord issue. Some ants like humid environments, so a poorly ventilated structure (like one with mold) could be the cause–also the landlord’s problem.

One of the regional grocery stores in my part of the US has these (if you have an account). Before I did online ordering with curbside pickup, this was how I shopped. I didn’t understand why it wasn’t more popular. It made checking out so quick. Every twenty or so trips I’d be randomly “audited,” where some poor employee had to rifle through my bags to double check I wasn’t stealing anything.

The problem is that punishes the kids a lot more than the parents. Quite frankly, if they send their kids to school unvaccinated without medical documentation, they should be getting vaccinated at school. Parental rights are not absolute. Plenty of kids were vaccinated at my school as a kid, and it was generally ones whose parents couldn’t afford to go to the doctor so nobody made a fuss.

Sometimes it’s really valuable to have a greybeard with no fear for their job who just stops everyone from making stupid decisions that they’re too in the weeds to appreciate. Hopefully they’re one of the funny ones, and not one who condescends everybody constantly.

It won’t necessarily have the desired effect if they are well off and live in a wealthy area. Wealthy neighborhoods and central districts might get over served compared to low or middle income ones, which does happen a lot in the US.

Forcing them to live in a “developing” neighborhood and use public transit might help.

I don’t necessarily disagree with your overall point, but GDP is just a measure commonly used to designate an economic recession. Downward movement in GDP is not the definition of a recession, though it’s a reliably used indicator. There’s a reason the US uses a voting body of economists to say there’s a recession rather than an algorithm linked to GDP numbers.

Was that the Adam Kinzinger one? It’s a low bar, but I’ll give him a modicum of credit for saying his vote against the first impeachment was cowardice and that he’d vote for Biden in 2024 if Trump is the Republican nominee. The government did not for Pfizer. That was Moderns. Pfizer did spend billions of their own cash. This move is largely because the executive leadership way overestimated the amount of covid vaccine and drug treatment revenue for this year, and they are desperate to make up ground.
