Religion is the enemy of social progress. Always has been, always will be.
Here you go:
“From 2003 to 2024, 889 cases and 463 deaths caused by H5N1 have been reported worldwide from 23 countries, according to the WHO, putting the case fatality rate at 52%.”
Wheres all his defenders now?
Screaming the n-word into the voice chat of their Call of Duty lobbies, while eating pizza rolls, and watching Adin Ross on Kick.
If H5N1 continues to rapidly mutate and makes the jump to human to human transmission in the same way it has with bovine hosts we are in for a rough ride. A virus with a 50% mortality rate will unquestionably collapse the global medical system, and the global economy right behind it.
Please explain how Israel attacking Iran is Joe Biden’s fault? He said the United States would not support a retaliatory strike against Iran’s retaliatory strike. All the blame falls directly on Netanyahu and the Israeli government.
Researchers have been studying this bug for awhile and human vaccines could be ramped up more quickly than with COVID.
There has also been a lot more research and successful production of influenza related vaccines, and over a much longer period of time. I would think there could be the potential to create H5N1 vaccines prophylactically in the future as the technology continues to improve.
I think about this and reference it all the time in real life. Nobody else I know IRL is a serious Trekkie though, so they have no idea what the context is unfortunately. It is still so damn impressive to me how many things they got right in that episode from an overall societal context: homelessness, ghettoization, gentrification, class warfare, global corporatization, etc. It really is one of the better social commentaries in all of Star Trek in my humble opinion.

I learned a new word today!
Since she thinks the war in Ukraine is “pretty much over”, I vote we send her to the front lines to verify that personally.
Again, since the war is “pretty much over” she won’t be needing a flak jacket or any kind of protection whatsoever. She can just waltz on over to Crimea in her crossfit gear. I’m sure she won’t die via landmine, artillery fire, or after being violently raped by the Russian military.
^ This is the correct answer.
I hate to break it to you, but bullets are cheap, ubiquitous, and highly effective at causing death. The only difference is death by firing squad is less humane.
Greetings fellow former Fred Meyer associate! It was my first job after High School, and I was there during the transition as well. Used to love Fred Meyer when I was a kid. It had good quality products, service was always good, and it just holds a nostalgic place in my heart. Post Kroger it has just turned into a shell of itself. Having even more options reduced by Kroger taking over the other two main grocery chains would be a nightmare.
Kroger has already ruined enough Washington retailers. They need to stay away from Safeway & Albertsons.
