People seem to think that the UN is a military force that is supposed to go in and secure democracy around the planet…

It’s basically a chat room for all the countries to talk for everyone to hear. That’s 99% of its job. And it does it quite well.

The problems occur when individual members decide “nah we don’t give a shit about the UN right now” and usually it’s the big ones that ignore it. Russia, US, UK, etc

Honestly there isn’t a legitimate reason.

Tldr “tradition” and insecurity, probably.

There was once a issue with Cuba a long time ago, but that got resolved and the US just decided to keep punishing Cuba as, in my opinion, a warning to other neighbors who would dare oppose it. “help out our opponents and get smothered”

The only reason it’s continuing is because of weak administrations thinking that admitting people who ran the country in the past were wrong somehow makes them or the country look weak.

Honestly the only thing that seems weak to me is continuing to kick someone who’s been down for decades but still manages to find areas to flourish and be better than the “superpower” that’s kicking it.

I have a WILD idea on how to reduce the growth of that statistic to 0.

What if, and bear with me here…

What IF… We stopped sending Israel weapons and armor.

I’ve had cuts I didn’t know about, but the worst was when I worked retail and managed to smash my upper arm on a shelf, and apparently I was bleeding bad enough to leave a broken trail from the front of the store to the break room.

I couldn’t feel anything but the aching of the blunt force trauma, I didn’t feel the sharp cut or any stinging at all.

I’ve also had plenty of small spots I have no idea how they happened, but usually I’M the one to figure it out…

and what’s with the bruised legs?

Tldr: inattentiveness, bumping into tons of stuff, and only remembering it when you look at the bruise or someone reminds you.

An explanation that’s meant to be humorous because it happens to me and my wife all the time:

“Oh my god, where did THIS bruise come from?”

I understand losing power for a few hours is irritating, but have some fucking perspective. You can go see actual devastation with a single tank of gas.

Back in the day, if I read “Sitting president calls for a coup d’état after hearing he lost the election” we could laugh and go “oh, you silly satirical newspaper, such a thing would never happen, this was an amusing diversion from the mundane!”

Now we go “Oh my god, turn on basically any news channel, there’s people trying to murder congress and hang the vice president and nobody is trying to stop them” and continue on FOR FOUR GODDAMN YEARS LIKE NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED

Honestly I find Russian general’s belief in a 3 day offensive more credible than that.

Nearly 1000 days later, even.

I legitimately think he will die before ever seeing consequences.

The people in charge are too fucking scared to actually punish him because TERRORISM WORKS

They just straight up don’t want to punish people because they’re afraid some MAGAts might get mad and start continue to shoot things up.

They tried to murder members of congress and the vice president once, and nobody involved has recieved a punishment fitting of the crime. Certainly not the punishment we were taught happens when we were in school.

No atmosphere means very little thermal radiation is pulled from radiators.

I imagine the best bet would be to drill into the surface of the moon and sink your radiators into the ground, fill the gaps with a material that transfers heat well.

Easiest version of that would probably be to lay the radiators on or just below the surface and bury them in a regolith concrete mixture of some sort. Probably not as efficient as drilling straight in, but way less complicated I imagine.

They’re getting there, but so far it’s only a few users that I’ve noticed.

Well I mean… I sure hope not. I personally don’t see any reason to think it’s anything other than China trying to gain support from nations that are on the fence or don’t care about them, which to be clear is not a bad thing. They’re free to pursue any relations they desire, and the other nations are free to do the same. Hopefully the politicians involved are truly working for the betterment of both countries.

That said, the person making the shady deal would clearly say “it’s not a shady deal”, and the person duped by aforementioned shady deal would obviously not want to admit being duped by said shady deal. So everyone involved has every reason to say this anyway.

In other words: a lot of words to ultimately say nothing. Much like this comment.
