We had a 1x but it was too slow for the new game we bought, Phantasmagoria. Instead of buying a new drive, my father picked up this terrible software that would write portions of the data to the hard drive when the game bogged down. It kind of worked but only after you went through it once, so whoever played the game after you got a smoother experience.

I’m 50% of the way there and it sucks. Everything hurts at some point.

It was the former. I had a bizarre, slightly yet constantly irritating shopping trip. I thought the cart was funny. Then handicap ramp man. What I didn’t post about is how people kept walking in front of me, forcing me to jerk my shopping cart to a halt, and how a major supermarket lost all of their macaroni and cheese. They recently had a remodel and three employees and I couldn’t find it anywhere. It was a weird trip.

Germany is indeed a great place to live - I’m assuming you’re German because of your domain suffix, plus it makes sense. My sister-in-law lives there and I just love visiting. My favorite part is how the people I’ve met are just so straightforward. I wish everyone was so honest and direct!

About 25 years ago, I was a retail manager and took great pleasure in having these assholes towed. We had the towing company on speed dial, they loved us. I wasn’t disabled then but it’s just a shitty thing to do so it ticked me off.

Today I just alerted store management, who was pretty pissed off about them. I approved. As much as I’d have loved to do what you suggested, I only had a few minutes before I had to leave.

It’s interesting, reading this comment and your others here, how you have to make things up so you can pass useless judgment on other people. That’s also mildly infuriating - you’re just shitting on people while saying nothing of value.

You might want to think about why you do that. I can understand saying things people might not want to hear but should, but the only thing that would change if all your comments here just disappeared is everything would be more pleasant.

That’s why I think more detailed articles should be written like scientific journal articles. One to three paragraphs that convey the gist of the article and the remaining pages dedicated to analysis and explanation.

Not only would this be more work than a normal article, though, it’d reduce ad revenue because most people would read the abstract and leave.

Holy hell, we really are catering to the lowest common denominator here. It’s not that I think we shouldn’t, we absolutely should, but our society really should be working harder to keep lowest from being so damn low.

I was coming to ask why she’d punish her own people.

My boss constantly rode my ass about my coming into the office. I’m a consultant and work on site for various clients. I do a lot of driving that is not reimbursed in any way by my company so, whenever I have a break, I prefer to work from home. But no, my boss has set the expectation that any time I have no on site client work, I needed to be at the company office, a 45-90 minute commute each way (depending on traffic).

If I need to drive into an office every day, I’m going to get paid the most I can for it. She took away one of the main perks of my job, so I had no reason to stick around. So I found a new job that pays 50% more and I’ll be letting the company know in my exit interview that’s the primary driver for finding new employment. Oh, and the best part? I work from home at least one day a week. My previous employer can get fucked.

Plus the droves of idiots who actually agree with this shit, whether through honest belief or indoctrination.

Story time! My friend’s cousin gave birth to a child with no brain. It had a rudimentary brain stem but literally had no brain. Her doctors knew this early on and suggested she abort as it had a 0% chance of survival. She was staunchly anti-abortion and declined, going on about how God meant her to have this child. So she carried it to term and actually managed to keep it alive for a few weeks, telling anyone who listened that it was her miracle baby. It would roll its eyes around and twitch at random. Surprising no one, it soon died. She was crushed as she thought it was getting better. Somehow. Magic I guess.

This is what American christofascist indoctrination does to people. It’s like the Handmaid’s Tale but everyone is 50% stupider.

I hope this is a “growing pains” moment and we’ll all band together to overcome hate and greed, but I fear all the bigots, morons, and corporations are going to take power by force since they can’t get it by popular vote.
