  • There are people named Yuu, Mi and Ai. However:

    • They likely didn’t choose their name.
    • Their name only matches ONE pronoun they use, not ALL of a given person.
    • Their first person and third person pronouns aren’t the same.

Think of the line “I am Gandalf, and Gandalf means me.” Ai would say “I am Ai, and Ai means me”, which sounds odd but hey ho. You would say “Drag is Drag, and Drag means drag”, which is borderline nonsense.

  • Also in Japan, if someone refers to themself with their own name, that’s seen as childish or arrogant.

If your first person pronoun is the same as someone referring to you in third person, then you are referring to yourself in third person every time you refer to yourself in first person. And since the idea of a first person neopronoun is exceedingly rare, most people will only think of you as speaking in the third person.

  • In a youtube video by Matt Baume, he discussed two types of protestors against offensive gay representation in the media.

The first group was loud and disruptive. One guy broke into the news room and yelled over the anchor about the injustice. Another guy handcuffed himself to a camera. It was a problem that could shut down production entirely.

The second group was calm and willing to negotiate. However, the only reason they were listened to by the networks was because of the first group. They even had whistles to ruin the filming if they weren’t listened to. But they were, and filming went without a hitch after that.

It’s not the peaceful path, but some people don’t want the peaceful path. They want violence. Give them more violence than they can handle (or at least the threat of it) until they beg for peace, THEN take the peaceful path.

    Si vis pacem, para bellum.

  • “Fs in the chat” -> “Subjects, please join me in mourning”

“Thanks for the dono” -> “Your tithe is greatly appreciated”

“We’re going into subs only mode” -> “You may only speak if you are of the proper station”

Ironically, “we just got raided” can be said in both instances, but means different things.

  • There’s nothing wrong with a devotion to Christianity. My mother gives sermons and she’s one of the coolest people I know. But that’s not what this is.

This is a person whose worldview was shaped by conservative values presented as Christian values. They see a world that doesn’t fit what they were taught, and they try to understand it as best they can. It’s a constant back and forth on whether to accept the world as God designed it or to try and block out parts that conservatives don’t like.

Case in point: The bible doesn’t say shit about swearing. It talks about insulting, with an example being “fool”, but nothing about swearing.

  • It’s kind of been a running thing that the only way to make a group of cops the good guys is to have them point out how bad most cops actually are. There’s an episode where Terry gets racially profiled and has to sacrifice a promotion so he can get even a little bit of justice. There’s an episode where NYPD posters keep getting defaced, and Gina has to point out how most people hate cops for good reasons. The series starts with Holt pointing out the NYPD kept him from getting promoted due to being a gay black man, then promoted him when they thought it would make them look good.

Heck, all of season 8 is spent opposing a police union and trying to stop police corruption.

It’s copaganda that desperately didn’t want to be copaganda.
