I’m American but I grew up in Europe. When it comes to metric units I am absolutely in favor of meters, liters, grams, etc. since they make more sense than Imperial units and are easier to use in most situations.
But for temperature scales while Celsius is great for scientific measurements, Fahrenheit is better for describing the temperatures humans live at.
I’m considering moving one of my retired friends to Mint after cleaning 43 threats from her Windows PC. All she does is browse the web and word process. I can set her up with Firefox and uBlock Origin on a Mint install and she likely will never need to worry about malware.
Thanks to the Steamdeck Linux users on Steam now outnumber Mac users. Still a tiny percentage of total Steam users but if developers increase support we will hopefully see that number take off.
I use option 121 as part of my work, though I am not an expert on DHCP. This attack does make sense to me and it would be hard to work around given the legitimate uses for that option.
I use the term folks to refer to my parents but that may be regional or generational.

It would be a catastrophe for sure, but there are some reasons to be hopeful:
Researchers have been studying this bug for awhile and human vaccines could be ramped up more quickly than with COVID.
Further, there are specific mutations that would be key for rapid human-human spread and the variant infecting these cattle don’t have those mutations (yet).
Cattle are not as good a transition species to humans as, for example, pigs. So while we should be watching this, it’s not quite as alarming as it could be.
Hanging on with 1.70E-31 health.
This is correct.

It’s not just to depress wages, preventing worker mobility also lets you abuse them in other ways like rotating schedules (which also prevent workers from holding multiple jobs or going to school), bad work environments and wage theft.
It’s not surprising that companies are increasingly abusing the workforce, it’s surprising that workers haven’t started organizing to fight back.
They do, but haven’t released the footage. The lawyer for the owner has footage from bystanders and probably the bar itself that so far contradicts statements made by the police. They already demonstrated that the arresting officer lied on his PC statement which resulted in the felony charge being reduced. I don’t understand why any prosecutor would want to take this case to court, but somehow they haven’t dropped all the charges yet.
You are more likely to get toxoplasmosis from eating undercooked meat than from your indoor cat unless you have a bad rodent problem in your house.
This was such a disappointment, I really liked her explanations of quantum physics.

It is ghoulish that this deeply personal information has to be made public just for this woman to get medical care that she always should have been able to get.
While it’s good to be skeptical, algae tanks like this are actually a good idea for the use-cases for which they are designed. Places where trees would be difficult and expensive to grow. The tanks more efficiently capture carbon, require less maintenance, produce fertilizer as a byproduct and the solar panels on the tank produce enough extra power for there to be a USB charger on the bench. The goal isn’t to replace trees with tanks but to use them where it makes sense to do so.
