That’s fair. App Store as the GUI equivalent of a package manager makes sense.

You need a browser to install a packages manager on Windows or Mac.
(Unless you’ve memorized the urls you need and can use curl)
Protecting your network from internet-bound threats is one of the most important jobs of a router, and that involves receiving security updates. Once your router no longer receives security updates, you should stop using it.
I once messed up something I was writing by hand and instinctually wanted to press ctrl+z
This will be useful if you are trying to let multiple people share your computer remotely. If you are trying to set up personal game streaming for one client at a time, try Moonlight and Sunshine (more mature, easier to setup, works on any hardware).
What you’d buy is “domain.com” and can then redirect any emails of the form “<anything>@domain.com” or even things like “<anything>@<anything>.domain.com”.
In fact, any email ending in “.domain.com” or “@domain.com”. And you could set up a wildcard to catch all emails without having to setup that specific email first.
Yeah I see the argument that any content behind an internet connection is DRM, but I think that stance is a bit extreme.
There are a handful of real problems on that list, but it’s like 3/20.
It’s important to maintain this list and call them out though. If I can’t expect GoG games to be DRM free I might as well just use Steam where plenty of games are still DRM free but other features of the platform are a bit better.
Oof I haven’t heard of this. That’s like the whole selling point of GoG. What games have DRM?
Buy CD’s and DvDs. Check if a game has DRM before buying it (or just buy from GoG where DRM is banned). Run some flavor of Linux.
Lemmy feels a lot less mature than Reddit, for what that’s worth.
If it blends in your accent use “an university”
Yeah throwing a piece of sodium metal into water will cause a violent reaction. Even touching it with your finger is bad because of the moisture on your skin.
But sodium chloride (table salt) dissolves in water easily and safely, resulting in an aqueous solution including sodium ions.
I don’t really believe either party is likely to change their tactics regardless of the outcome. Frankly, if Trump wins the election, regardless of the margin, then I’m 2028 I’d expect to see Biden running again (assuming our political system is in a state where that’s possible in 2028).
What I hope for is the total collapse of one of the political parties such that a 3rd party can compete. I think that the republicans are far closer to that level of collapse than the democrats.
However, more so, I am afraid of the effects of another Trump term continuing the path he started in his first term and/or following the project 2025 plan. Trump’s first term had a lasting effect on the ability of this country to make positive change, and I fear that a second term will only make it worse.
In summary, I believe the change you and I want won’t happen quickly under Biden, but won’t happen ever under Trump.
Just FYI your hypothetical would be the biggest electoral defeat for an American party in modern history and would probably force the Democrats to actually to be responsive to their base.
Maybe they’d learn their lesson. But if instead a non-negligible fraction don’t vote for Biden, he’ll likely still lose and the DNC definitely won’t learn their lesson.
But whether or not the DNC “learns their lesson” may be a moot point: the goals of the Republican Party include eroding the civil rights of LGBT, immigrants, and women, as well as dismantling our democracy in general. This is not coming from DNC propaganda, this is coming directly from the mouths of republicans, as well as examining their actions on all of these topics while Trump was in office.
I don’t expect Biden to make anything better. I do expect Trump to really, tangibly make things a lot worse. Again, this is no “what if”, Trump was president and did make things worse, and he and other republicans have stated their goals for next time.
As for making actual progress, if Biden wins this election, especially if he wins by a significant margin, then the Republican Party might rethink their strategy, which would lead to a much healthier election in the future. Additionally, after this election (if Biden wins) he won’t be able to run again and the DNC will have to pick some form of fresh blood. That’s a far better opportunity to actually work on improving the system.
Yes, voting for the party and candidates that I want to vote for based on my own convictions - which right now doesn’t include any national Democratic candidates.
Sure sounds nice on paper, but what do you expect to achieve by doing this?
What do you think would happen if everyone who is disillusioned with Biden but isn’t a Trump supporter voted 3rd party?
You got a better plan?
I would love to play Infinity Blade again
Probably. Go to developer.apple.com. You want to download Xcode and install the iOS SDK through XCode. You may need to make (free tier) Apple Developer Account before it lets you download.
Note that you can’t install apps from the iOS App Store on the iOS simulator; only a handful of system apps and anything you build for the simulator yourself.
Apple provides an iPhone emulator as part of their official SDK. Free to download, but only runs on Mac.
The ideal is “plays fine at lowest graphics settings on old hardware” while having “high graphics settings” that look fantastic but requires too-of-the-line hardware to play reasonably.
Generally this is almost impossible to achieve.
