I have no idea who you are, but you have just made my day completely. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This may very well be the funniest comic strip I have ever read

I hear this a lot, I’ve not known a single person who has considered it a status thing. There are people who have cheap phones from both apple and android and they were made fun of for the price of the phone, not the bubble color. iMessage just made it much nicer to talk to people. “I can send messages over wifi!” made it so you could send messages in school or anywhere with a big metal roof. “The images are better!” These were limitations of the SMS standard that Apple designed around. Now? Yeah, there’s other options, but back then iMessage made its hold by being able to be used by people who couldn’t use SMS or didn’t want to for whatever reason
Hey, some of us like that stuff! But I have no idea
I’ve seen this a lot on this thread, but this is Apple we’re talking about. They have billions of dollars to throw at making their memory compression far better than what’s on Linux. I still regularly use an 8gb ddr3 apple macbook air from 2017. It’s not as fast at computing as my 32gb windows laptop, but it feels more snappy. I also have a 16gb desktop, also windows, and the macbook feels just a little slower than that. A little. And it’s ddr3 vs ddr4
Is there some beef between you?
Yes, yes. We do this already and we are probably safer for it. If we had a model we could point to evidence that, in general, this helps. It should never be admissible evidence in a court, but it would help police figure out who to keep eyes on
It’s a UNIX-like system. It’s not close enough to be linux imo
And what does the Mac UI not allow you to do? There are so many features that still aren’t implemented on Windows or Linux. Things that should work but are just a little off
If the model is accurate though, I’d be okay with it. I understand it’ll never be perfect and laws should be put in place banning people being arrested or interrogated just for that kind of suspicion, but still
Thank you. I can use Linux. I don’t want to. Plenty of people are still computer illiterate and people forget that. My father uses excel on windows every day for his job, but couldn’t use a mac because he just knows his Windows. He got confused that the taskbar disappeared lol. Linux would blow his mind. Yes, if you’re training someone on the new OS it’d be no different, but so many people only know certain windows programs.
Also, audio SUCKS on Linux (speaking from running PipeWire and ALAX and Pulse). Try explaining to someone how to fix that mess.
For me it does. I have two HDR monitors, neither with exceptional hdr. Both look much better with it on, but I personally like the HDR look that some things have. I can tell when something is washed out, but my RGB has also not been properly calibrated. Regular HDR modes in games suck and make it look like I’m staring at the sun or an old photo. Auto HDR makes fire look brighter
Fair, but I feel my point stands. It’s not like spotlight on Mac, but it actually understands what I want now. I use it mostly to launch programs.
And before someone attacks me: I use all 3 major OSes weekly. Hot takes: Mac doesn’t suck and isn’t incompatible for the majority of tasks, but it does end support for things normal people don’t care about, Linux is not that great when it comes to normal quality of life (not power user stuff, it’s awesome for that), and windows makes things easy to access while somehow making everything behind a million menus and across different menus (but still much easier to change than linux)
HDR support is a big one for me and the reason I switched. APK support is nice. I like the glassy look although that could be achieved on 10 via other means. The search function feels much better to use and it’s nice because I like to use the search function instead of keeping things on my desktop
How so? I’ve always found finder did a good job.
While it won’t make sense for every datacenter, it would be so amazing to walk into one and see something hyper futuristic placed on walls
I have thick hair. I once flipped my hair and cracked my neck
Yeah, if it’s ads that’s one thing, but getting your news from one demographic of news provides far too much confirmation bias
Not all of them are like that. They recognize a government is necessary, but when the government gets involved everywhere it starts to become a hassle. People govern themselves in small pockets and I think a lot of republicans like the idea that people will continue to do that. Yes, some of them are bred from hate, but not most.
Also, if they get upset with “government do thing” they cannot possibly be fascist as that necessarily requires a large central governance. I’d argue that putting more policies in place is more fascist and Democrats do much more of that sort of thing.
Now just for personal curiosity, how are they actively endangering your life? Endangering I can agree with, but “actively” I’m curious
Do you use an iOS device? I have an app that works very well and is on the app store, no side loading
I cannot attest to all of science, but anecdotally, that is wack bs. I am very sensitive to caffeine. Know how I know? I got them mixed up once and after 3 cups of black “decaf” (it was the caffeinated) I started low-key tweaking. Hot flashes, cold flashes, sweats, vision blurring. I can’t say all stuff is like that, but I did NOT mix up my caffeine and decaf like that again.
