I’m actually really impressed by how smooth it is, especially since I use ALVR wireless on my home network, with an NVIDIA. It does require some tweaking but once it works it goes really well. I’ve tested 4-5 games and it’s super smooth. Better yet, I can use my quest to monitor and play projects directly in Godot while I develop them! It’s awesome. Goodbye forever windows. I already have 555 since I’m actually on Nobara, not sure it would have work with the previous driver.

I don’t understand your VR reference, but I need to say it: yesterday I got VR working on Fedora!!! Like almost perfectly. Even for monitoring development in Godot! To me this is the final nail in window’s coffin, deleting it today.

People saying FF is slower: like how much slower, are we taking like 14 millisecond slower? Cause everything seems pretty instantaneous here. They’re definitely not perfect but in my one year experience on Linux+2080ti, it’s totally usable. The Linux community seems to enjoy those overblown drama, at this point the Nvidia thing is basically a meme, pretty funny to watch.
I’m not vegan, but I wish I could be vegetarian. I do know a lot of vegans, most of them are super nice people, that never made me feel bad about not being vegan, and who usually bring the best dishes at potluck. The problem is no other platform has that much content. Looking for an obscure scene from an old tv show? It’s probably on YouTube. Wanna know more about Brigitte Bardot’s career? Someone has a nice channel about her. The fact that the platform sucks amd his own by effing google doesn’t change that there is just so much great niche content to be discovered. Hopefully we’ll have a fully working foss alternative soon enough. I’ll gladly pay for that if the money goes back to creators.
