I watched the video, but burying a good video under a trash article does not a good sauce make. OP should have just linked the fucking video.

I get that, but here we are. It’s something I want to do. I’ve been at it for 6 months and I’ve managed to get the site working twice, but am still struggling with SMTP. Digital ocean blocks smtp and send grid breaks the site.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh yes, I’ve been using the ansible method of deploying and I have it very close, I just can’t get SMTP working. I’ve set up an account with send grid but letsencrypt keeps telling me I’ve passed the limit for certs and every time I try to deploy it says I have to wait another week to try. I would remove certs but since I’ve already wiped those out, I don’t know what they are or how to find them.
Medac fucking blows.
Vet here. I give you my blessing. 😉 I’m okay when it comes from people genuinely, but when it comes from the employee at Lowe’s, it means absolutely nothing, regardless - so I usually just say “no thank you”. And I think people only do it because marketing in the early 2000s really pushed that shit. When I got back in 2005, people in the airport started an applause and some old greasy guy grabbed my arm and took my hand to shake it. I hated every second of it. I wished the building would have collapsed on them. I kept thinking, I wonder if they would be so quick to applaud us if they saw half the pictures I had taken. I deleted every picture I had and exorcized those SD cards within days. And the only thing outside of my own head that reminds me of the horrible shit we did is those fucking bobbleheads and their incessant gratuity.
That said, I did get the third degree from a Vietnam vet once because, he “never got thanked” for his service, “they just called us babykillers”. Which I thought was funny, because when I was shipping out, a young adolescent saw us in uniform and yelled, “babykillers!”, to which I responded, “wrong war buddy”, and my platoon mates laughed. So I suppose getting empty, ignorant valor is better than misdirected vitriol.
Either way, fuck nationalists.
Self hosting, at least for lemmy, is absolute trash. I have been told a few times when asking questions that, “it is expected that you are thoroughly experienced with Linux” to be able to follow the mediocre guides. And they are trash if you are a newbie.
So people like me, who would love to use Lemmy for non Linux things, am posting almost entirely about Linux problems.
Where’s the confusion? They protested the notion of drunk driving several times – many more than necessary. Protesting is like eating pasta. You can’t do too much of it.
In a vice versa way, that’s pi hole. The website makes ad requests to the DNS and pi hole says:
OMG 🤦 Thank you for explaining this. Now I get why he keeps saying that no banks were harmed. And now it makes sense why they believe he owes so much in taxes.
Okay, I’m tracking like a VCR
This, the don’t just rip off framing every time they need to replace it. There will be some way to access it. When I traveled for work, I had a tool bag for a few things, chiefly the thermostat.
Thanks for that. Astute and insightful.
Oh, interesting, thanks! I’ve dabbled with Linux so I’m familiar with it. I believe my nas is NTFS, but I could be wrong. But if so, I wonder if it’s possible to mount an NTFS location to a Linux server… Something to research while working tomorrow 😄
Local resources only, and they even have a FAQ that confirms that they have no intention of supporting media libraries on network locations. So dumb. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to ditch Plex. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I mean, it’s a NAS. Yes, it’s technically a “computer” but so is your TI86 (I wouldn’t call it a PC, it’s not exactly running minesweeper lol). My NAS is not optimized to run media center streaming services. My media center server, however, is. My media server is great at that, but you what it really sucks at? Also handling multiple TBs of file storage. Yes, an all in one network service machine would be great, alas, I don’t have optiplexes abound. I have a metaphorical web of multiple devices that all do different things. You know, like a network.
For those co-workers who have boats, you likely don’t have the full picture of their finances.
Yeah yeah yeah, I get it. I mean, I promise it’s you who doesn’t have the full picture - I live in Alaska, there are no cheap boats up here, there are no cheap houses, there are no cheap hobbies, etc. - you don’t qualify for all of those things without the ability make at least the minimum payments. Nevertheless, you missed the point. I didn’t have the credit to get a single snow machine or motorcycle, let alone enough of them to also need a toy hauler to tote them around. There is a vast difference between struggling to make rent, and being able to acquire myriad recreational vehicles regardless of how “paper thin you may feel their outward appearing lives are”. And the difference in experience and skill was not that much. I had to teach those idiot x genrs how computers work and a few of them still today “don’t use email”. So I’m just not buying the “evaluation” argument. I know what they brought to the table, because I was the asshole fixing their sloppy ass work.
My god man, you are missing the point. You seem to only see my problems through the lens of your own life, which sounds like it has been mostly affordable. That’s my point. You have grown out of touch. Things are not affordable. I’m not talking about fucking jet skis. I’m talking about groceries and rent.
JFC, I had to live out of my occasionally running car for two years and I’m getting boomersplained about perspective. 🙄
All my storage is on the PC running Jellyfin.
You know how I already knew this? Because that’s literally the only use case that Jellyfin supports. Got several TBs on a NAS? Lots of people do. Jellyfin apparently can’t even conceive of such a diabolical topology.
Jellyfin can’t utilize local network storage… How is that a useful tool for a HOME MEDIA SERVER???
It looks as though there are methods for utilizing network storage solutions. This has not always been the case with Jellyfin but either way I was dead wrong. My bad folks.
I mean, ReVanced, but yes. No way I’d pay for that shit.
Lol, night shift in the lab, we watched the shit out of youtube.
From a mechanical standpoint, the new bearing saves a nearly negligible amount of space. Splitting the motor up and moving it to the notoriously wasted wheel well space is what clears up the center of the frame. Still very cool. It’s basically a single output differential, which is already quite compact. No need to split the rotation for turning since the wheels rotation will no longer be mechanically linked.
