The people that say it’s their main form of entertainment must have to wade through so much crap to get to anything good, I just don’t see the point.

I don’t get the appeal of YouTube. I use it for maybe the odd music video or something, but often you’ll just get someone’s annoying commentary instead of the actual thing.
I live without it and it’s great! Try it.
All of these AI prompts sound like begging. We’re begging computers to do things for us now.
I see that makes sense. So what does making it public/blending traffic do?
I’m still trying to understand searxng, does it start with nothing and build up its index each time you search? Will your results be rubbish for a while?
They want a tip at self-serve? That’s ridiculous!
I picked up from their response that they’re just using the public API, not in any kind of partnership?

No thanks
I keep hearing about Kagi, are they reputable? I moved from Google to DDG and I do a fair bit of searching so I would be interested, but I guess there’s a bit of a one-company-knowing-my-search-history going on (totally unironically).
Some of these memes are scarily accurate to me, I’m very seriously considering getting a diagnosis.
Nirajisms
Ew.
I used to use Windows a long time ago, it was always slow and crap. I also tinkered with Linux but I don’t want to spend my free time (and some of my work time) troubleshooting. I like the idea of Linux, but for most people it isn’t there yet. Windows is just bad.
Apple has created a situation where, for better or worse, they are both the software and hardware. Yes, you’re locked in and pay for the name, all of that, but also they work. Really well. No troubleshooting, no bloat or slowing down. That’s what people pay for.
Agreed. Studios used to make loads of fun cheap films, now everything has to be a blockbuster CGI-fest.
I saw another comment saying it was a trend and temporary; that may be true but it has definitely ruined cinema for too long already.
Also Photopea is pretty cool too
Me too!
Kensington Pride all the way
I use NewPipe, it’s a nice alternative but then I’m not a heavy YouTube user. How are they able to make it? I’m surprised YouTube would allow an app like this to exist.
They should remake the 1989 version
Yeah I hate that. Now all results have to be opened in new tabs just in case.
Yeah I guess if you’ve been using it for a long time and have favourites built up that would work. I remember when YouTube started and it was pretty good, but with every video trying to game the algorithms I couldn’t imagine trying to start afresh now.
