Here’s another one for you, my reading comprehension-challenged Internet friend.
macOS is actually UNIX 03 certified. It doesn’t get any more UNIX than that. 😉

You might be right. In either case, the argument stands but thanks for the correction.
I wouldn’t want your help anyway, considering you think your reading comprehension is better than mine. 😆
You responded to “macOS is UNIX” with “it’s not open source”. I’m just illustrating how these 2 things are not correlated.
In any case, macOS is based on OpenBSD. Even the original BSD, which OpenBSD is based on, was not initially open source.
Everything you said was a straw man.
UNIX != open source.
In fact, most flavours have historically been commercial and proprietary.
The main “instability” I’ve found with testing
or sid
is just that because new packages are added quickly, sometimes you’ll have dependency clashes.
Pretty much every time the package manager will take care of keeping things sane and not upgrading a package that will cause any incompatibility.
The main issue is if at some point you decide to install something that has conflicting dependencies with something you already have installed. Those are usually solvable with a little aptitude
-fu as long as there are versions available to sort things out neatly.
A better first step to newer packages is probably stable
with backports
though.
Not much use to go Ubuntu or Mint, unless you have specific issues with Debian that don’t happen with those. Even then, it may be one apt install
away from a fix.
If you want to try out BSD, power to you. I wouldn’t experiment on a backup computer though, unless by backup you just mean you want to have the spare hardware and will format it with Debian if you ever need to make it your main computer anyway.
Otherwise, just run Debian!
I don’t mind the order of path, arguments and options, but what the hell is the deal with long arguments with a single dash? i.e. -name
instead of —-name
It’s not equivalent. Russia is at war with Ukraine. The USA and the UK are, in theory, not a part of this war - at least not directly.
It’s the equivalent of Ukraine threatening the countries arming Russia, if those countries decided to get more directly involved in the war.
Not defending anyone here, but a paedophile is someone who’s sexually attracted to prepubescent children. I believe these days it’s extended to the early stages of puberty as well.
Most girls are well over that phase at age 14.
A 23 year-old having sex with a 14 year old may be morally and legally wrong depending on culture and jurisdiction, but the cases where it’s actual paedophilia are likely a small minority.
Again, I’m not defending anyone, but calling every person who’s attracted to minors a paedophile only serves to diminish the effect of the actual ones.
We even have those in Brazil. Not everywhere, I reckon most are older than those but I’ve seen them in some malls and airports at least.
I assure you I’m not trolling. I understand what you’re saying, I just find your confusion … confusing.
It’s no worry though, I guess we just have such different ways to see the world and things that we can’t reconcile them. :)
I agree. This is a bizarre exchange. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
How do you think coffee is made? You infuse water with coffee beans, normally ground. How strong your coffee is depends on the concentration of actual coffee vs. the “base” (water). It’s the same with tea.
Black coffee can be an espresso, or something with more water. Generally speaking, an espresso is more concentrated (and thus stronger) than an Americano.
A 300ml Americano with 1 shot of espresso has a certain coffe-to-water ratio. A 300ml Americano with 2 shots of espresso will have 2x as much coffee content despite it having the same volume.
In any case, an Espresso is mostly water, even the strongest, tinture-level ones. It’s made by literally passing hot water through the beans so the water gets infused with coffee oils and alkaloids. It’s mostly water. In fact, it’s nearly all water.
Black coffee is still mostly water. Also, if you add water to whatever you call black coffee, it’s still black coffee, because it’s mostly water.
this all assumes it’s going to be mixed with some “base”, like milk or water
As opposed to what? Dry crushed/ground coffee beans?

It’s pretty easy with Ollama. Install it, then ollama run mistral-7b
(or another model, there’s a few available ootb). https://ollama.ai/
Another option is Llamafile. https://github.com/Mozilla-Ocho/llamafile

Linux is quite an oddball in the UNIX world, tbh. It’s the most popular these days, and the one I’m most familiar with, but most Linux OSs are a lot more GNU than they are UNIX.
