  • First of all you’ll be really happy with all those babies when you turn 80 and society hasn’t fallen because the average age is 70.

Second, when childcare is free more people can join the workforce, this increases taxes and productivity.

But maybe the most important it will make society more equal. When you’re poor working almost doesn’t make sense if you have to spend 80% of your salary on childcare. So more people don’t work, these people are usually women. That really doesn’t help with an equal society, because a big group can’t really work so they can’t really climb any ladders.

  • I once had a phone with a replaceable battery, headphone jack, IR blaster (so it was also my TV remote) and SD slot.

I feel after this we gained waterproof phones.

(although I only once dropped my phone in water and it was before waterproof phones and it still worked 48 hours later, so I don’t care that much for waterproof phones).

Anyway I feel we just got downhill after this phone, my current pixel has no: headphone jack, IR blaster, SD slot, replaceable battery, etc.

I wonder what would happen when a major smartphone maker would make a phone with all those features again.

  • Thanks, I like your comment and I agree that I think people just aren’t evolved to have millions of fans/followers. If you look at people that got famous at a young age, most (maybe almost all) of them turned out into pretty unstable people. I’m taking about tv/movie stars here. Nowdays young people not only get famous, but also are bombarded with endless comments, lots of them very negative.

Even for young people that are not famous at all, when other kids around you always share things online where it looks like they have a much much “better” life, it messes you up. So many people just pretend to have a great life online, but never share all the bad stuff that also happens.

If you grow up with social media, you grow up with a complete fake version of reality. I kind of fear for the moment my kids will be old enough to want to join social media. As a parent you can’t really stop them and I also don’t want to be the super controlling parent anyway. It’s something that scares me because I know I will have to deal with it in a few years.
