Mexico mode is only available once a year on May Fifth. It then disappears until next the next year.
Same. I still have Solus on my old laptop but I mostly only use that when I travel. Its the same install I’ve been using since 2018 with no issues. I did not install on my new laptop because hardware wasn’t supported on available install image and it seemed like Solus was on its last legs and not worth jumping through hoops for.
Fallout 1. Killing my way out of 1000 rats to finally leave vault 13.
I loved the stealth sections in ocarina of time and wind waker
Ubuntu - Loved it in 2006-2012ish but I jumped ship when Amazon appeared in search. Great place to start my Linux journey at the time.
Manjaro - Only distro to ever break entirely on me. I didn’t care enough to try and figure out why.
Tried endeavor and stock arch but they weren’t my cup of tea. No real issues with them though.
Fedora - I liked for a few years but abandoned after the RHEL drama this summer. Seems to be going the way of Ubuntu. Maybe that’s just my opinion.
I use and like Solus a lot but they didn’t update anything for 2 years until this summer. I use it on my gaming PC and an old laptop for web browsing but nothing important. It’s always been solid for me, I just worry about it going extinct. They do have an updated road map and seem re-energized though. I also think it’s a good beginner distro because you don’t have to dive into terminal much, and a good distro if you are a pro, but kind of bad if you are an intermediate user because there aren’t a ton of resources on it that bigger distros have.
I mostly use Debian these days. Stable on my server. Testing on everything else. I don’t see me abandoning it anytime soon.
Sadly I have to venture forth tomorrow or the day after for sustenance. Other than that I’m with you, people are nuts this time of year and are best avoided.
What entertainment are you enjoying? I started watching “For All Mankind” this week. So I’d like to get all caught up on that.
Pretty sure it’s just a reference to Hackers.
I don’t use it wrong because I don’t use it but to me “mirth” feels like it has a negative connotation even though I know it means joyful.
I think it was somewhere around 6 to 10 hours with a certified instructor. The 40 with an adult was yeah a family member or friend. The quality definitely depended on the adult. My parents took it seriously and made sure we completed the lessons, but I had friends whose parents just signed the form without providing the additional instruction. It was 20 years ago so details are fuzzy.
That doesn’t sound all that different from where I learned in Maryland. You had to go to a class for a few months that had both theoretical and practical portions. You had to do 40 hours of supervised driving outside of class with an adult. The 40 hours covered a range of situations. Then there was a driving test. Which I passed fine for the car but failed for a motorcycle because I started about a foot back from the stop sign on the course so I didn’t pull up and stop at it. Doh.
When I bought my Tiguan the dealer was pushing really hard for me to get a 2022 which has just come in. It was the first year to have capacitive steering wheel buttons. I told them to find a 2021 or I’m looking at something else. I think the car market was still a little slow at that time so they made it happen to get a sale.
You can easily add xanmod kernel to Debian based distros to get a more up to date kernel. I’ve never had any issues running it.

How Did This Get Made
Hello From the Magic Tavern
The White Vault.
I’m not excusing it at all, I think it’s one of the worst vehicles ever made, too big, heavy and fast. People are for sure gonna crash these beasts.
What I meant was I’d like to see traditional truck designs that have millions of vehicles on the road be scrutinized before the 10 cyber trucks. You’re way more likely to be hit by a regular truck which has a deadly design than a cyber truck just because of how many more are on the road.
None of these monster trucks are going to crumple from a fleshy pedestrian. Crumple zones are for when you hit another vehicle or tree or something
I don’t like Teslas, Musk or the cyber truck but it can’t be any more dangerous than the 4 ft wall of radiator traditional pickups have now. Not saying this isn’t a concern but I am way more concerned about the millions of pedestrian crushing rolling walls already on the road.
Move in with my friend in the Netherlands. He’s wanted me to move even if Biden wins.
