If only we were so resolute to stopping people shooting civilians… that would solve both problems at the same time

Would you change your mind if Houthi soldiers died? What is civilians would die?
Can the US bomb anyone they can’t arrest? Don’t the Houthis deserve a fair trial by an independent jury? Can any country bomb another country if they feel like it?
I know the answer is that it’s because the US it’s powerful and doesn’t give a damn about people in the global south. But this is a grave injustice and the evil American empire deserves to fall.
The whole world watches as Israel commits genocide. The Houthis are brave to try to slow down the massacre of the Palestinian people, even though they themselves have been subject to a brutal war against them by the US and Saudi Arabia. If you care about the poorest people, then hold the capitalists responsible. They raise the prices on the poor and for any made up reason. We’ve seen this in the last couple years a when they pretended that it was inflation while they hoarded more and more wealth. Let them pay the skipping delay out of their own pockets first.
I’m not saying you’re okay with it. I’m just pointing out that one offense justifies bombs and the other simply suing the boss (while admitting it doesn’t do anything). I’m simply proposing we bomb Nestle before Yemen. In Minecraft of course.
You know that isn’t what I am saying.
It is what you’re implying. Even in this very comment: you just assume that violence is appropriate for protecting a trade route, but we have to be very nice to CEOs of companies that destroy the environment and use slave labor. Please examine your own biases and see the consequences.
Oh okay, so we’re killing people over causing environmental damage? Let’s murder the CEO of Nestle, BP etc. They deserve it way more!
Cargo ships can take a longer route, they don’t need to be there. The US values cargo over human lives.
The US is willing to kill untold number of people because otherwise the cheap shirts made by children in Bangladesh will arrive slightly late. I do hope for this evil empire to fucking die already.
This comment got to me really late, probably to Lemmy’s distributed nature.
But I still want to add: of course business will make more money if you allow more practices, but selling personal data just has too many negative consequences.
Also low quality advertising? You mean like billboards and in the newspaper? You mean regular advertising?
No, just ban the collection of user data and selling to 3rd parties. Enormous fines for anyone still doing it. Destroy this entire industry please.
Exactly, it’s the whole “black lives matter” vs “all lives matter” thing all over again.
None of them attacked innocent civilians in Cambodia: Kissinger bombed innocent civilians in Cambodia. And then after it became known that Pol Pot was a genocidal lunatic, the west started supporting Pol Pot AFTER it became known what he did until his death, while the communists attacked and deposed Pol Pot.
It’s always the same: the west murders indiscriminately people in the global south and then act all innocent when this radicalizes the survivors.
Edit: you also mention Vietnam. What Kissinger did there was also monstrous.
You’ve already made up in your mind that the Palestinians are genicidal, in order to justify their colonization, oppression and murder by the Israelis. You do this for your own peace of mind. You need to do that because if you didn’t, you would see it for what it is, a people fighting for its liberation. You require the Palestinians were all perfect pacifists, going along with their own ethic cleansing and genocide.
Kissinger bombed hundreds of thousands of innocent Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian civilians, and they gave him a fucking peace prize because he finally stopped.
He is responsible for Pol Pot’s rise to power so he’s indirectly to blame for Pol Pot’s regime. You can’t bomb a country to hell and not be responsible for the aftermath.
Post an example of Palestinian people calling for genocide instead of a some unrelated dude.
I know why people keep quoting this unrelated dud:, it’s to make you think that “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is a call to genocide. It’s not, it’s a call for freedom. Both quotes just use the word “sea”, but are otherwise not related.
Okay, but then address the point that the guy was Egyptian and not Palestinian?
I mean, there is a big difference between the crimes you commit and the ones you don’t commit.
If we’re going to judge countries based off what politicians of OTHER countries say, we’ll be here all night. Fuck Canada for the shit Trump says, etc.
Democrats just as much. They just proposed the toughest border control bill…
