I personally got a surface go 3. Put fedora on it and the surface kernel and it works pretty good - GNOME’s interface honestly works better for touchscreens then windows. Just be aware that some config might be needed - I had an issue with the keyboard that required making a udev rule (I documented it on the surface kernel github issues page).

Wanted to update that I’m almost through the first book, mixed feelings at certain parts, but I’m enjoying the end on Schar’s world. Felt like the beginning had a lot of unnecessary sidetracks and random deaths. But I do definitely love the ideas, especially all the culture technology, so I’ll probably check out the second book.

The Mint upgrade tool got flatpak support so I don’t even use the terminal to update anymore.

You posted something that’s bad practice (for many reasons, including security). Like, nobody cared about your software habits until you posted them publically with no prompting. probably so you could act smug after getting downvoted.

Some build advice:

• Be safe - don’t wear socks, stand on a hard floor if possible, ground yourself if you have a wrist strap for that, and discharge any static by touching metal and/or the case before touching any components. And no matter what, DO NOT open the power supply, and definitely don’t touch anything in it!
• The huge motherboard connector probably requires more force than comfortable.
• Watch through at least one build guide before starting. That way you know the process.

Yeah I agree with you there. If you’re gonna just give two or three body type options and no other customization, there should be an androgenous option or at least they should all be generally androgenous. I think the issue with runescape probably stems from how the game was before.

I agree with what others said that more customization is generally good, but not all games really need that level of customization. For something like animal crossing, I think the body type thing is fine, since the designs are more neutral unlike what you’re describing. I think what could help is a third option that’s a more neutral body type. Or maybe if it’s not relevant, just don’t have a body type option.

I also don’t know much about runescape, but I assume this was an update that just changed the names from genders to body types, so adding other options might have increased the scope of the update. I think at least uncoupling that from gender is at least an improvement over before. Plus, I kinda disagree that people would only pick the corresponding pronouns. Plenty of people have a gender expression that doesn’t necessarily match their gender identity.

I mean, that’s not cruelty free. Someone’s still gotta animate that. And most good animators either act scenes out beforehand and/or use reference footage.

So many games focus mainly on competitive play. Tf2 is the only multiplayer fps where I feel free to relax and goof off.

Somewhat, but it’s not a virus. It’s contained to it’s own file system unless it does something really stupid, and I can easily remove the while whole thing. But the reason i needed it privileged is because it loads the ppp kernel module, so if you know a way to do that without privileged mode, lmk.

For me it had to be run with --privileged and --network=host

For some reason I also had to do “ip r add {remote IP}/{mask} via {the public IP assigned by the vpn}”. A friend who knows more about networking found that out for me though, so I’m not entirely sure about it.

Had to install a VPN for work, and if you didn’t have a rhel-based distros you had to use a bash install script, and the installed executable had embedded bash and sh scripts. Needless to say I ran that thing in a docker container.
