I read that the whole “fool me once” gaffe was down to him not wanting to be have a sound bite of him saying “shame on me”, copped it mid sentence then tried to cobble his way out of it. Not sure how true or accurate that is but it is at least plausible.

Some newer phones allow you to stop charging at 80% which will essentially extend the life of your battery for as many years as you want it.

Settings->battery->stop charging at 80%

I get a full day out of 80% and I’m nearly always near a charging source so I use it and haven’t found any issues with it.

I am pretty sure this only showed up in Android 14 for me. OnePlus phone.

A few for me:

• Death of my father.
• Getting married. Hitting 20 years in August. Hopefully many more to come.
• Realising I didn’t enjoy the business course I was on in college, burning the two years already spent and moving to computer science which I loved every minute of.
• Having kids. They bring me so much joy.
• Leaving a well paid job that I didn’t really enjoy and starting my own business.
• Travel. It’s so important to experience different cultures and viewpoints.
• edit: Finding a sport that I loved. I wasn’t a sporty kid but decided to start trying different things in my 20s.

Also some asshole at a party last night said something stupid to me to make me feel unnecessarily unwelcome

I watched it live yesterday. Just happened upon it on the national broadcaster here and couldn’t turn it off. The lady lawyer was absolutely incredible. Follow up speakers were excellent also and made very strong arguments.

Oh I’m certain our generation is kinder to our kids than those that came before us. History shows us a lot of cruelty to each other over the years but it also shows us a huge improvement over time, particularly in the last 60 odd years.

Sorry to hear that. That’s awful. If you have your own family in the future, that’s your chance to make sure nothing like that happens in it. We learn from the mistakes we experience.
