I really don’t want to own multiple machines and certainly don’t want to lwn a clunky desktop. I was quite happy with Stadia, but need to look at external GPUs through oculink as that would provide me with the best of two worlds.

In Sweden (and most European countries?) you need a two year education (1,5 yr theoretical, 0,5 yr field training) before you can work as a police officer. I think in parts of US the training is just a matter of weeks/months, which is very little considering the situations one need to handle.

I used Joplin extensively for ~2 years, but I was constantly put off by the desktop applications UI and how my notes was stored in SQLite. The move to obsidian felt natural and I felt more in ownership over my files in their existing structure. Granted, obsidian is closed source and could go rogue, but when that happens, I am prepared to jump ship without too much pain.

One way is LinkedIn, another would be to ask for a mentor in a small online community where everyone have a shared interest. I think the most safe bet however is to do this through the people you already know, they might know someone who knows someone who could take on the role of a mentor.

I remember they made a VR version of the game, which I was very keen on. And I imagine the VR aspect would’ve made that effect even stronger.

Out of curiosity, have you tries logseq or silverbullet.md? They both have capabilities to query your notes similar to Notion.

I’ve had this challenge with structuring notes-data for a while, but haven’t found something that suits my workflow yet. I have on my list to experiment with a sqlite solution.

I tried anytype during the alpha, but I understood early on that the data is crippled during export, and the self host node is very cumbersome to set up. Also, I had a gut feeling that it could turn into a enshittified product.

For my usecase, I could achieve my note taking needs by other more established, libre and less complex means.

I recently made a move from FreshRSS to miniflux, and it has a so much more cohesive UI. And its much snappier.

Highly recommend it.

I know part of what makes it expensive is the propagation of messages in complex rooms (I.e. the official matrix room). I haven’t hosted matrix servers myself, but data.haus did which I was on until it sunsetted late last year due to this issue.

I’ve been using a lot of different apps. Then I tried using tasker plugin along with dataview in Obsidian - but it was too convoluted. I settled on using vikunja for tasks that I need to keep track of, and the things I commit to goes into my “today” note in Obsidian.

Generally it is not advisable to have more than one source of information for your tasks, but this setup worked for me.
