It is the same/similar problem that Nokia/Maemo and Sailfish/merOS have all had.

Some things are binary-blobs + NDAs and many things are still locked, the OSS community can only do so much before they hit the commercial roadblocks.

    We need a complete CoreBoot + OSS silicon-chips + OSS firmware + all-community / all-commercial dual production lines.

The open-source-based company should be able to sell both the commercial locked-version and the oss-all-unlocked-version with the ability to switch infinitely between the two models.

But the world of electronics rarely will ever work or reach that level of interoperability , repairability or recycling this way. Not for a long time maybe in some distant future.

  • Any sanitation worker, sewage diver, drain block remover, in most of the third-world countries.

We need city drainages to be repaired, cleaned, maintained, and managed with draconian safety, extremely well-compensated, hazardpay up the wazoo workers comp and complete-healthcare all covered for life. So many workers are just abused for the lifeline work that keep a city’s arteries from getting clogged and flowing smoothly.

I saw how Korean drain-workers do it with high-pressure water jets and incredible efficiency and knowhow talent of their vital job. I wish we didnt have the corruption that prevents this type of training, trained worker, worker pride in the essential labour that they do.

Same goes for recycling and reducing waste. We humans don’t do nearly enough and the Top-20 major corporations that cause 80% of worldwide pollutants go unchecked and unpunished.

  • You’ll find that “student accomodations” are probably the biggest scams in the UK. A lot of Indian-origin residents/citizens esp. the first-generation, they have the same “Indian” mentality. You’ll find that the 2nd-gen children of these people are more “British” and less “Indian” mindset.

Case in point, the elderly property owner does less than the “minimum” maintenance, charges crazy rent-prices, re-arranges rooms to fit the maximum occupants, almost regular issues like heating, plumbing, mold, etc completely ignored. While suddenly announcing that rent is increasing by 20% “due to inflation, or needed for maintenance” … don’t pay? get out and your deposit is forfeit. Ever showered in cold water during the entire February in the UK ?

You will find that the 2nd-gen children if they find out the elder is doing this, will immediately rectify the situation and probably takeover if they can. Else you are outta luck and on your bum in the middle of winter which no one will want to be.

  • Your suggestion is not wrong despite people not liking it. OpenSuse Leap or TW and Fedora even SilverBlue can be good for Linux newbies.

I have got both OpenSuse Leap and Fedora 37 on old-people systems and they are happy to browse using Chrome and edit using Libreoffice. etc.

Windows or Linux is as much suitable for the people who can use it and need it. No need to force anyone to use anything.

  • I believe pfizer? and some other pharma companies have now admitted to the non-zero risk for blood-clots and fatally-low platelet counts due to the vaccine. We still do not understand the full long-term impact of the vaccines. We need to stop the vaccine rollout and study the long-term and wider population effects now so that if in 10 or 20 or 30 years down the line if we start seeing people developing abnormal long-term systemic chronic effects due to the vaccines, we now have a MASSIVE study-patient-base available.

Medicine has to be RESPONSIBLY applied and while vaccinations are necessary they still have to be studied to death to ensure their safety and efficacy.

Private corporations DO NOT GET A FREE PASS.
