I would suck cock if this didn’t happen
But then again I would suck cock regardless because I like to. Not yours tho
For years me and my friends have a number of group chats in iMessage, and about a year ago someone started hanging with our crew who has an android. I suggested signal and was pleasantly surprised how much support I got in the suggestion, both from the iPhone users dreading going green and from the android user worried about being left out. A couple people even already had it even though they didn’t use it, just tried it out after reading an article etc. anyway fast forward to now and all our group chats are in signal, and it’s been great. It’s a fantastic app, the transition was as simple as sending an invite link to the iMessage chat. We even use the stories function now and again. It’s great, I recommend giving it a try :)
I had less luck trying to get my family to switch to signal when we went green, but there’s a lot more tech-challenged people in that group. However most already had what’s app for international use, and moving to that was super easy - i would still prefer signal over giving my contacts list to meta, but the chats and backups are e2e so I’ll take it over sms/unencrypted rcs
This fully de-registers your number for iMessage, I wouldn’t suggest this.
Instead when a message doesn’t send, simply press and hold and choose send as SMS and it will temporarily keep the chat green for a while.
This is how I’ve been charging mine too, works well!
Maybe we wouldn’t have the spam ridden hellscape that is modern email if it worked more like current messaging platforms
I get why they want to charge money, that’s obvious. But they are charging money for another companies service - that’s not a good business plan. Especially when that other company is one of the largest in the world.
Woah, fn-delete is a game changer…

$2 a month subscription? They want people to pay for this? That’s gonna be a problem for Apple, this is going to get shut down by the end of the week.
Edit: seems I was right 😂 https://www.macrumors.com/2023/12/08/beeper-mini-imessage-for-android-shutdown/

You live in a medium sized city and have to use a cell network? You don’t even have a coaxial network available to you? Even most small boonie towns in the US have coaxial with 300+ mbps, and if not you can call and get the carrier will run a line for free if there’s enough potential customers
In the days of cheap unlimited gigabit fiber and multi-gig WiFi connections…. Does it matter?
It’s gonna be modern streaming / cable all over again. No more single well ran App Store/service, hello endless shitty marketplace
I wager meta and Microsoft etc the ones big enough to make their own store will pull their apps from apples App Store. Metas store will be the exclusive place to download instagram and what’s app, and the average user will begrudgingly download one extra app to get stuff working again and then forget about it and never open it again.
Apple is WAY stricter about their store than google is. Google so so lax because they know giant devs would leave. Apple has gotten away with being a gate keeper making these apps play nice because there was no alternative.
Because google lets these players put apps in their store already chock full of all the tracking and junk they want. They know if they didn’t, they would open their own store and google would loose their cut.
This is what I’ve been saying the whole time. If we open up third party app stores, get ready for the meta store to be the exclusive place to download instagram and the Microsoft store the exclusive place to get outlook/teams, both pumped full of tracking and junk that would have never been approved by Apple, diluting the iPhone experience for many.
RISC-V is within the next decade anyway
Ooh this is interesting. I don’t like the wireless packs much, as far as I can tell they don’t support pass through power only charging. This would be much more efficient
