That’s what 25 years in IT did for me.

“A flare”?! So you don’t throw 3 flares in rapid succession and then complain that flares take too long to recharge? Just me? …okay.
When the only choices are parkour or menus? Yes.
800-53 Rev 5 is such a pain in the ass to implement fully but holy shit is it much needed. Bad actors out there everywhere and if followed to the letter, those controls will save you almost every step of the way. “Almost” because there will always be a new method to infiltrate an organization or agency, but the damage control built into these controls should lessen the impact regardless.
Only thing surprising is that it took this long for it to happen. Everyone else knew that there would be immediate forks made but seems they took a month to catch up to speed with the internet.
Their marketing dept is probably concerned.
I just recently started using Vikunja too, and it’s pretty great but really needs more recurrence options. For 90% of my things it works, but there’s some things lacking.
Not all distros are that hard to get into. I personally don’t care one way or another as long as you’re comfortable with your OS, but it’d be worth giving Linux a try at some point. Mint Linux or PopOS! are both good options for entry level Linux (but not limited to just entry level).
Yeah, I’m not a novice to Linux in general, but it was my first time using Arch. Was testing it out after many years of admin of Ubuntu servers and then trying OpenSUSE for gaming. I don’t think I could ever leave Arch now, it’s just so easy to maintain and I finally get the hype.
I found out about 2 months ago I had a dead stick because of my Arch install. I kept having data integrity problems and thought my NVMe was dying. And then the other drive was having the same issues. I had reinstalled Arch so many times during this that I memorized ALL the steps from start to end. I really wish I had tested RAM earlier, but was so determined to believe it was the drives.
Right? Always make personal accounts tied to completely independent email accounts. Never ISP, work, or school email accounts. It makes it hell to deal with if you want to switch providers, quit or get fired, or graduate. It’ll take weeks to get into all your old shit.
An American not knowing the existence of Kazakhstan is pretty reasonable. But an American not knowing that New Mexico is a state is completely disappointing and happens way too gd often.
Mmmm rat lungworm disease
Yeah I see a comment like that or just “lol” as something that should have just been an upvote. And then because I’m cynical, I also assume they didn’t upvote.
More like 135°.
I also choose this guy’s bi wife.
Yeah, how dare you use one of the oldest, most widely accepted forms of online payment, right?
I remember all the victim blaming back around 2010-2011 when PayPal users were getting banned on Steam because of random payment holds PayPal was conducting. They’ve done some really shady things over the last couple decades.
Yeah I have been saying for a couple years now that I have the lamest super power: a fairly accurate mental timer. It’s not like I’m always on time myself, hell I’m late regularly by a few min to most social events, but I have a weird reoccurrence of being almost right on time if I have a timer going.
I use Alexa to set timers at least a few times a day. For brewing coffee, cooking, and various other mundane tasks. Nothing exciting. But I almost always expect that when I go to check on the timer, in within 10 sec. I’m not even consciously keeping track or looking at what time it is when I start generally, and sometimes I forget I even had a timer until last few seconds when I check on it.
I remember a few months ago I was slow cooking a bean soup that I like to go for 12 hours. I started it a few hours before bed. I woke up, went downstairs to start coffee, and the moment I walked in the kitchen, the slow cooker chimed because it had hit exactly 12 hours.
One of these days I’ll use it to get my butt out the door on time. Maybe.
Not exactly the same thing, but when I got my first VR HMD, for about two weeks afterwards I had to fight the urge that my real hands were the fake ones rather than the ones I would see in VR. Supposedly it’s something like 25% of first time VR users who get a similar feeling, but it didn’t make me feel any better about it. Never happened again, even with how rare I play VR games, but it was rather off-putting.
Oh just thought of another one: when I was playing WoW back in 2005, I got so into it that it was effecting everything. My social life died and it was effecting work enough that my boss had to have a long convo with me to get my shit together. But what really made me realize how bad it had gotten was having dreams where dialog with people I knew IRL was all in text and I would have to type responses to people when face to face with them.
