Greatcoats actually work well on a bike when it starts to get pretty cold (ca. -20°C), I have a thick wool one that is Russian navy surplus and I might look like I just biked off of a warship, but it keeps me warm yet also breathes if I get too warm. Also, it's long but splits down the middle nicely when I straddle my bike.

I haven't biked in much colder than that, though in the winter it easily gets to -30 to -40 here. I kinda want to try but it's quite intimidating both in terms of keeping all my extremeties as well as all the ice.

I meant to imply that this guy seems to like to conflate the law with morality with regards to the outrage over Assange, as if he has not reached the post-conventional stage. “Why are people outraged, he broke the law, you can disagree but the law’s the law.” is how I interpret his thinking, and I think that’s childish.

I reckon since he mentioned the lack of regional pricing, he’s probably from a developing country where 20 USD is a crazy amount of money for a Lemmy app. Whatever “side” you’re on, I think regional pricing is an extremely reasonable request.

Not trying to be just be contrarian for contrarianism’s sake, but it doesn’t look like anything special to me. I’m just having a hard time wrapping my ahead around why anyone would pay for it, leaving charging for it / putting ads and tracking in it in the first place aside.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but does Sync seriously charge to remove ads that they added to browsing Lemmy in the first place? I get charging for Reddit due to the API, but I have a hard time believing the app is that much better than the existing FOSS apps such that the privacy tradeoff with ad trackers and/or the monetary cost worth it for, well, anyone really. Seems kinda scummy and antithetical to the philosophy that drives much of the Fediverse to me, yet I see so many people defending it in a way that reminds me of the rhetoric used to defend Reddit. Seriously, am I just a crazy person?
