You think that’s all legit? I don’t see permaban levels of rule breaking at all there. More admin and moderator boneheadedness causing mild irritation with users. You’re asking for feedback, then ignore most of that feedback, and now ban disagreement because they’re understandably frustrated with your responses.

This is a bit learning the wrong lesson from what happened, isn’t it? The problem is admin overreach. There was some disagreement on a sub, no big deal. I don’t even care what it’s about, I have no opinion on it. But now this admin comes in like Eric Cartman “Respect mah authoritah!”. What am I supposed to make of that? Nobody was advocating animal abuse. I worry about admins who can’t just let something go, who can’t handle disagreement, like a cop always looking to escalate.

All in all, please don’t kill this instance by telling people what to think. There is healthy discussion and people don’t always have to agree. That doesn’t make me a ‘free speech absolutist’. I think removing moderator privileges was quite out of bounds. Again, nobody was advocating animal abuse at all.
Mods and admins are here to keep discussion healthy, not impose their views on everyone else, right? So don’t! And don’t cover for others who do!
That seems to be a mistranslation. I’m not excusing anything, but the word he used in Dutch is more serious than just a mistake or a misstep. I’m not sure how to translate it, but it’s not a euphemism.

Any protest is better than complaining or arguing on the internet. I’ll let the tactics to the actual people doing their actions. Nothing but encouragement from me 👍
All that hand wringing over what kind of protest should be ok, you guys are exhausting. The kind of protest doesn’t make a difference at all. A lot of people will say it’s unacceptable no matter what. I’ll even admit sometimes a protest misses the mark, but I’m still glad they did it.
