The meeting came days after Petri Sarvamaa, a senior member of the EU's parliament, began circulating a petition to revoke some of Hungary's membership rights, including voting, due to the country's "erosion of the rule of law" and obstructive behavior in the face of EU consensus building.
I wish we could kick them out of NATO. Especially Hungary. I’m hoping Slovakia comes back around
I am not necessarily sure about that. Fico plans to change the electoral system to stay in power.
Even if NATO/EU does not kick Slovakia out (which is not probable), Slovakia will have terrible economic problems especially considering the fact how extremely left-wing oriented Fico is.
So extremely left wing he came around and started poking on far right. I hope he gets demasked sooner rather than later - nd that this time people fucking remember it.
He is extremely close to communism. All he pretty much does are populist “benefits” for people (taxing banks, giving money to homeless, etc.) which usually end in a complete disaster.
EDIT: Trust me, people won’t remember it. I have been living here for 25 years and people here outside of the capital will keep believing his “social benefits” and his “people oriented politics” forever, no matter how pro russian he is, how corrupted he is, etc.
So if anyone else here lives in Slovakia, leave till the borders are open.
If my wife didn’t want to stay, I’d already have plans in motion. I was born here but I don’t care for it. We have pretty nature and I carr for that but that’s about it (and based on who we have at the ministry of environment now who knows what will be left of it).
For now, I have to believe there is justice somewhere for him (though I doubt it - he is making sure that won’t happen), or tha he will fall from grace again and stay that way (and as you say, chances are pretty slim with how stupid our nation can be). It’s all fools hope, but I need it to keep me sane.
By this metric Čaputová is probably a reincarnation of Karl Max?
Caputova is our president and this role only has a representative function here. It’s a bit unfortunate, though, because she is brilliant.
Fico is our prime minister and it’s visible based on his and his government’s actions what his orientation is. He is creating various “social benefits”, rising minimum wages, 13th pensions, etc. while doing pretty much nothing such as consolidation of our economy. Basically he has similar goals than socialists had many years ago and the effects are visible.
