After Israel killed seven aid workers in Gaza, the US says it has not found any incidents of Israel violating international humanitarian law in the past six months. An Al Jazeera probe concluded the World Central Kitchen vehicles were deliberately hit.

I wonder if this will get me downvoted:

Has not found evidence ≠ Has not.

I still think they’re blind, but let’s not misconstrue what was actually said.

Which is obviously a deliberate lie

      Edit: Fixed emphasis

And when you watch the video, he says “There was no evidence of that”.

*Some people can’t read details, so to clarify: I’m not agreeing with him. I’m saying that’s what he said.

You think they didn’t find any of the mountain of evidence of the active genocide their colony has been committing for the past 6 months?

They’re not “blind”. The US is deliberately lying to continue funding and facilitating the genocide.

I didn’t say that, I’m pointing out what they said is “evidence” and that “Has not found evidence ≠ Has not [commited…]”. Cheers.

Seems like a redundant and unnecessary point to me.

Lying and saying “We haven’t found any evidence of violation of international law” when they obviously have is the same as just asserting they haven’t broken international law.

Your comment said you think they’re “blind” when they’re clearly just deliberately lying.

Israel, with US backing, is destroying the concept of international law. It’s now clear to everyone that the so-called international rules based order isn’t real and that the rules only apply to US enemies like Russia.

I think we’re seeing a repeat of the League of Nations.

That’s the bigger one. They’re happy to enforce the rules on brown people when they attack brown people, or white people on white people, and all hell is unleashed when it’s brown on white, but when it’s mostly white Israelis on mostly brown Palestinians you get crickets.

Eh. It still seems more interesting than baseball, and it’s more exotic where I live, which the hipster in me likes.

In case this was actually unclear, there’s a media trope of using the sound of crickets (the animal) to emphasis a silence.

The reason is that it has not issued any findings yet. It is going to in a few months.

This is clever wordplay, nothing more.

Edit: fuck me, it’s as if no one gives a shit about the truth anymore. It’s all kneejerk reactions.

This is a non-story. Governments don’t just willy nilly declare that somebody has or has not committed a war crime. It goes through an entire process. That process has not completed yet (in the US anyway). There are no findings yet. Therefore until the findings are released, the US has not found that Israel has done anything.
