The International Criminal Court prosecutor said Monday that he has requested arrest warrants for the leaders of Hamas and for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.
In a statement, the prosecutor, Karim Khan, said he would seek warrants for Yahya Sinwar, Muhammad Deif and Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas. He also said he was requesting warrants for Mr. Netanyahu and for Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant.
There ought to be more people in that list. But it’s a start. Good that they put the warrants out for both Hamas and Israel leaders. They all deserve to be arrested and tried for their bullshit.
I love that it equates Netanyahu and Gallant to Hamas.
Benny is a big supporter of Hamas
An extraordinarily sensible action. While Israel is certainly causing the most civilian suffering right now, Hamas also needs to be punished for their instigating terrorist actions.
The only good guys here are the noncombatants.
I’ve been saying that the best solution is to take down both leaderships and put young people, who actually want to co exist in charge. I’ve been downvoted and banned from News for expressing this view and suggesting Hamas are not good guys.
Yeahhhh it’s the age-old campism of “If it’s anti-america, it must be good” I’m so sick of this black and white thinking, we can force the U.S government to do better without praising whoever is doing atrocities in the name of attacking the west.
Basically mom saying “I don’t care who started it.”
Oh boy, time to see Ted “gotta run, someone shit in my pants” Cruz throw a hissy fit over this along with those other Republican shit bags who threatened retaliation over this prospect.
All headlines say Netanyahu and Hamas leaders, why are they casually glossing over Gallant?
Same reason the headlines aren’t listing Hamas leader: the international public doesn’t know who they are. Netanyahu, on the other hand, has been on the international stage since the '90s.
Republicans:
:O
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor said on Monday that he had requested arrest warrants for the leaders of Hamas and for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel for war crimes and crimes against humanity in relation to the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel and the war in Gaza.
While Mr. Khan’s request must still be approved by judges from the court, the announcement is a blow to the government of Mr. Netanyahu and will likely fuel international criticism of Israel’s strategy in its seven-month campaign against Hamas and the war’s toll on Gazan civilians.
There was no immediate response from the Israeli government or from Hamas.
But if warrants are issued, those named could be arrested if they travel to one of the court’s 124 member nations, which include most European countries but not the United States.
