    Image Transcription: Meme

[‘Distracted Boyfriend’ - A stock photo image of a man walking side by side with a woman in a blue shirt, holding hands, as a different woman in a red shirt walks past. The man appears to be whistling at the woman walking past, showing clear interest in her looks, while the woman he is walking with looks at him. The face of the woman next to him is replaced by the app icon for the app “Apollo for Reddit”, while the woman he is looking at has her face replaced by the app icon for “Memmy for Lemmy”]

Wefwef is a web app that is a near carbon copy of Apollo. It’s how I’m browsing and it’s great. Much better than the web interface.

He addressed that a bit ago. That kind of undertaking would be pretty big, since the data structure on the back end is so much different. It’s not out of the question, but not something he wants to do right now.

It’s wild seeing the difference in number of votes and comments today compared to the last week or so since I signed up.

Highly recommend checking out wefwef - closest option to an Apollo clone as I’ve seen so far in terms of UI and functionality, and doesn’t even need to be installed. Memmy is a very good second place option, but I’ve been using wefwef since I heard about it yesterday and ZI think it’s better.

Are you using it as an installed PWA? I’m not having any issues with animations or scrolling. I have run into a few weird UI bugs with slide up menus within communities, but that’s about it.

As the Memmy dev I can also highly recommend wefwef. Great product for such a short lifespan.

Going outbound or inbound? Outbound the requests are super basic, inbound they are pretty large. There’s a lot of limitations on that.

For example to get basic user info you have to receive a bunch of other information that you’re not going to bother using. Hopefully in time this will get changed, because there’s no reason to be receiving so much data whenever you really only need a few bytes.

I started with Mlem and wasn’t a huge fan and was primarily using Memmy. But I decided to try mlem again as it’s been a while and it looks much better! Might be my new daily driver. I’ll give wefwef a try too.

Its not as polished as Apollo but years of development will do that for you.

I noticed at one point in the side swipe upvote the down vote and upvote waw pointing down just the color was changing

Apollo is more like the wife who was murdered by Reddit, now watching you from heaven, hoping that you find a new social media platform to make you happy.

Any prior RIF users with some advice for which app to switch to for Lemmy that’s the most similar?
