Someone will fork it, once Bitwarden close the source you won’t know if they are even patching vulnerabilities.

There is no such solution but you could just not update your mobile app and keep using vault warden. Nothing will change for you.

Testing it then will see if it passes the wife test for ease of use.

The impetus to pay once is supporting great Foss software. I personally think a donation model works for me but I don’t research human behaviour or marketing either.

How is it “fake Foss” when you can just download and run the code without paywalled features and not spending anything.

Again companies operating in the EU. While you may have implemented compliance it doesn’t mean you understand the law.

If not in the EU, this doesn’t impact a business not planning to operate there.

I mean, they can say it but good luck enforcing it outside the EU’s legal jurisdiction.

Does GDPR even apply to instances not hosted in countries covered by it? No.

I get that these need some sort of access point in the normal web for the average user but it blows my mind these sorts of chats aren’t on the darkweb on a Foss app.

See the other guy whom replied, there are plenty of reasons you can’t install it on every device.

1. The docker install doesn’t take a long time, if you read the instructions you can download their YAML file and run only one command. But on the GitHub they have instructions for desktop app mode if you don’t want docker.
2. It’ll take up more resources outside docker but it’s a small PHP app.

4. Have a look at the examples, if you are not familiar with docker you might need to look at the embedded desktop app as you’ll run into this issue with any alternative in docker.
