I’m a huge fan of sci-fi and I do love myself some sci-fi horror, like those in Love, Death & Robots and the German series Dark, but even Dark is nowhere as dark as Black Mirror is. The difference being Black Mirror is entirely focused on showing you the darkest side of human nature. There are no redemptions in most of the stories. No typical hero journey, no light vs dark narrative; just shit going from bad to worse to nightmare fuel.

If there’s one thing you can take away from the entire series, it wouldn’t be “Technology is bad”, but “Humans are fucked up”.

I’ve watched White Christmas too after hearing so much about it, and that, my friend, was the final nail to the coffin for me. Anymore Black Mirror and I’m going to cry.

This episode made me stop watching Black Mirror for good. It was way too disturbing and I’m someone who doesn’t even flinch while watching horror.

Let’s face it. How many of us have actually contributed enough to any FOSS projects to demand for free and premium services. I personally would rather donate to a FOSS app instead of paying Sync, but it’s unfair to judge Sync for having ads and trackers when the option of removing them is there. There’s nothing wrong with any dev wanting to make a decent living or even more than that, as long as they don’t go overboard and are honest about it.

The “breakthrough” likely happened a long time ago, but as with all tech, it was only recently accessible to the general public. LLM alone isn’t even that sophisticated to begin with.

AI assistant will soon be an essential part of our lives. It will handle grocery shopping based on your dietary requirements, conduct basic diagnosis of your health, create personalized software, books, music, and movies on the fly for you, do your taxes and offer financial advices. All these are already happening.

Probably because most of us are sorting by top 6/12 hours since there isn’t enough content to keep us entertained every couple of hours if we sort by top day, which will obviously improve as we grow.

Optical illusion is most likely the reason instead of engine brake if your vehicle slows down significantly in certain areas and doesn’t on other downhills with “similar” angle.

There is this slope near a waterfall around where I live. If you put your car in neutral gear at the bottom of the slope, it rolls “up” the hill. We named it magnetic hill back in high school, but I later found out that it is just an optical illusion that happens everywhere around the world. Basically some uphills look like downhills and vice versa. Google “gravity hill”.

It used to be that everyone pays the same amount of money for entry into a game world, and the reward depends on how much we grind, but it’s becoming more and more like real life these days which is really sad.

• Universal access to healthcare, food, water, shelter, electricity, and education without cost.
• Prohibit the operation of businesses or investments in basic necessities mentioned in previous point.
• Non-essential amenities such as entertainment, fashion, travel, luxury goods etc continue to be available for purchase.
• A reasonable tax structure that ensures higher taxes for the rich.

Is that Communism? Is that too much to ask for?

Totally is. Now we just need a volunteer to grow the community.

Does that mean that all the posts and comments from said instance prior to defederation will still be visible in the home instance?

Don’t we all. Nothing like a little humor to lighten the mood but I honestly don’t miss scrolling past hundreds of overused puns to find some useful info on Reddit.

Steam Deck is the first taste I get of Linux. I’ve always had this fear of not being able to fully utilize a Linux OS due to my lack of skills in coding, but I find myself looking into it more ever since I got a Steam Deck. It may just be the right excuse I need to git gud in coding.

Edit: Thanks for the clarification and encouragement guys. I’m going to make it a mission to move to Linux ASAP since it feels like Windows has been really pushing the limits of privacy these days.

“But what do you really want to do with your life?” is a question that comes up a lot in our lives. I’ve spent a chunk of my life trying to find the answer before realizing that what I want to do or think I should be doing is inconsequential. The important question is how you want to feel. You could patent the whole universe and be the richest person on earth and still feel like a failure or an imposter. That’s why rich and famous celebrities kill themselves – despite achieving what everyone desires, the promised happiness remains elusive, if not even more distant.

As time marches on, you’ll find yourself remembering lesser and lesser of what you did with so and so, but you’ll always remember how they make you feel.

How you feel has to do with your attitude in life. You can feel happy and contented right here and right now, without changing anything externally. Live every moment as if it’s your last, then you’ll always know what’s important in life.
