I think this video is a extreme example of the problem.
Its a one hour video bookended with statements that the author doesn’t have time to make a better video.
0:00:15: Now I’ve written a lengthy script but I have no time to actually read it out correctly from memory so I think I’m just going to use it as notes and talk from the top of my head instead.
…
1:07:15: I’m kind of sad that I can’t do this review like better technically cuz i can’t afford to spend you know a month editing this video.
This is a slightly different question (retrieving Voyager I) but an interesting read nonetheless.
The freedom in Foss is freedom to redistribute (under the same license).
Is the the distributor or the og developer getting the licensing fees? Neither makes any sense to me.
I thought Docker is FOSS but Desktop is not.
Branding confusion aside they are distinct, but complimentary, products with distinct licensing.
A fee for comercial use or corporate users sounds like “discrimination against fields of endeavor” to me.
I think you are describing winget.
It has a few issues but offered most of what you are asking for.
Thanks!
Very interesting.
Oh,sorry. I wasn’t asking how the user makes a selection.
As a developer how did you select these DNS services?
- Privacy-Focused Providers: Choose from trusted DNS providers like Quad9, Mullvad DNS, and NextDNS (more coming soon!)
How are these chosen?
Zealot!
In my heart I like the middle ground the MPL offers. Vitality at the file level feels like a compromise between letting people both have an obligation to the upstream and still maintain ownership of their additions.
But if course by brain recognises that there is an insignificant population of projects using it and the community gravitates to the extremes
My physical notepads aren’t much better, every page is a new context, and despite my best efforts they don’t seem to be in chronological order.
Todays notes are on top but everything older is “somewhere”.
Lots of options then
The moto line have a shake for torch on/off gesture. Very handy
A lot of paper is wasted because we tend to use standard “document sized” paper (A4, US Letter).
For content that is not designed to fill the page (poster or whatever) it will fill a random amount of the final page and on average half of that sheet will be wasted.
If smaller paper sizes were used more often it could save a fair bit.
Another example: “Dam that river!” vs. “Damn that river!” could be confused.
True context helps - but I wouldn’t want to consciously smurfify the language.
They might be silent when spoken but still offer disambiguation between words/meanings when written e.g. “dam” vs “damn”.
I might be missing the point but does it matter if it breaks down into micro plastics over 3 years or 13?
If single use plastics are destined to become micro plastics does the time scale matter?
