  • Totally agree.

Food service is making the best of a bad situation.

Plan everything right then truck shows late/ prep calls off/etc. Too many moving parts. Not even accounting for customer taste.

Transitioned to office work that is technically classified as “fast pace” and worst day of poor planning doesn’t enter top 10 worst days when working food.

  • Will go a step further and call it entitled white collar opinion. I lucked the fuck out and gotta outta food service for IT.

Not a minute goes by I’m not thankful, no matter what kinda shit day I’m having I’m not putting away truck while orders come in and the prep called out and don’t forget to clean the frier by the way how did you forget the onions?!?!?!?!?

Yeah go work that shit with no light at the end of the tunnel and then talk about how it’s wonderful.

    Bonkers pov totally agree.

  • Hey I’ll add on as young kid yelling at cloud.

    You’re right.

Large portion of gen z only knows how to use a computer when it is working as intended. If it fucks up or need to use something like excel it is trouble.

Cars especially, manufactures are doing almost everything to prevent you from working on it yourself. I tried autotech as my dad was as you described and quickly discovered did not have an aptitude for it. However computers were a better fit.

As far as “old man rants” go, nothing false here lol.

  • It is not.

I am gen z. Bit of an exception as I’ve been around older people entire life and mom read to me every single night as a kid.

WE CANT FUCKING READ. Any time I’ve come into contact with people of my generation they will almost always have a shit work ethic, subpar spelling. Text abbreviations, leaving work, showing up when they want, etc. Not going to act as though I’m perfect but it’s real.

Work ethic is horrendous generally speaking. There’s something to be said about how boomers killed themselves at a company and said thank you sir, BUT, to take that the opposite direction and be a flakey piece of shit is another story.
