Americans are not a monolith, but instead all over the place with regard to a cultural practice like care for the elderly. If you had to summarize it might be fair to say that there is more of a sense of freedom from obligation to care for elders than in some other places, which is also driven by the baby boomer generation being so entitled and the current younger generations encountering ever worsening economic prospects which the boomers are stereotypically blind and unsympathetic towards. Also, there is a greater recognition of abuse and sometimes that leads to the recognition that ones elders have been abusive and therefore can go fuck themselves.

It’s the strangest thing when people who were targets of Nazi persecution become Nazis themselves (Loomer is Jewish). But then again, it also seems to be a feature of far right personality organization to behave this way. Quite frankly, it is unethical for a licenced psychologist to be conservative. Number one principal of the psychology ethical code is beneficence and non malefacence. Do good and do no harm. Conservatives hurt vulnerable people via their hateful intolance. They harm people by invalidating people’s organismic preferences. Peterson hurts vulnerable people at mass scale. He should lose his licence to practice at the very least. Ontario board of psychology being spineless cowards here.

I haven’t met gates and I agree these days he comes across pleasantly, but perhaps you are not old enough to remember stories of what he was like in his 30s and 40s when Microsoft was younger.
