    containing loli

It wasn’t containing loli, it had generic hentai and some horse stuff. I was there and saw it, about 1000 hate-watchers immediately screamed “LOLI” and it stuck.

I think to be fair the artist was a known artist who had done loli and there was a character who was underage in some show but didn’t look more or less underage than ALL hentai, but people don’t necessarily save porn based on what other works the artist has made or what the storylines say. It was a pretty desperate accusation, people REALLY need to hate people who have different opinions.

  • And coming soon to a developed nation near you!

As an aside, some people with issues have used the falling birthrates around the world as an excuse to push for far-right, draconian policies regulating people’s bodies like banning birth-control, criminalizing abortions, and lowered age-of-consent laws.

We need to all make it very clear when this shit comes up that the problem has far more to do with economics and infrastructure than any social moral failing. We need better heathcare and safety nets so couples can afford to have a baby. We need lowered housing costs so people aren’t afraid they will have to raise a family in a single-bedroom studio apartment. We need paid time off and parental leave. We need mass-transit so a family with two working parents don’t also have to afford two cars. It’s fucking ASBURD how much American families are getting fleeced.

If our policies and politics actually cared about taking care of our future, they would be making it easier for families to have babies and adjusting the world, not still expecting people to have to work two-jobs for twenty years to save up enough for a downpayment on a shitty house.

  • I was raised by hoarders. I was the only one who ever did any cleaning. I was the only one in the house who knew how to operate the washing machines and vacuum cleaner at age 10. I made huge efforts sometimes to keep the place clean and organized, which turned into huge dramas as my parents used the new clean space as a reason to fight and be victims, until they would bring more shit in and leave it piled on top of the old shit.

To this day, if I could live in a blank, white box with nothing else at all, it would be heaven.

  • The best story I ever heard about this was a single dad who had to take his teenage daughter to the doctor because she got an infection from inserting a toothbrush handle or something else that wasn’t sanitary, and instead of giving her ANY kind of scolding or negative judgement, he was very loving and helped her laugh it off, and then he just left on her pillow a $100 gift card to Adam & Eve or some other large, commercial, adult site that lets you buy gift cards.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to even suggest an age here, but I think as a parent you will know when it’s time to have the talk/leave the card.

I am almost appreciative that Linkedin just overtly embraces the synthetic and manufactured cultural dance we do in business, like nobody expects anyone to do anything but show their most pretentious and carefully cultivated images. You don’t log into Linkedin expecting to see a video of Uncle Jim ranting from the front seat of his truck about immigrants, and that’s almost beautiful.

It brings me back to an age when people actually tried to conform just a little for the sake of social progress, people kept their shit to themselves and worked to be part of a system. It was as close as we ever were to being even remotely socially conscious.

  • In terms of language, Chatgpt is more advanced than most humans.

The internet is getting flooded with content that reads like a 10th grade book report written the hour before the test. When you can give me an internet that isn’t overflowing with mindless slop that says nothing new and pictures of uncanny people smiling with too many teeth, then I might start to believe it’s better than people in some way.

In the meantime, I would encourage everyone else to maintain and encourage human connections, hand-written material and actual human interaction. Write and draw. Don’t be lazy and let your lazy brain convince yourself that any of this is making you better at anything.

  • Maybe you should start actually figuring out how to use the tool instead of complaining about it in this echo chamber.

As someone who actually has used most of these applications and has to learn how to keep up with it for my own professional reasons, I am speaking from a place of education that this isn’t going to help as many of us as it supposedly is helping you. Nothing you write can make me feel positive about the immediate future.

I know the tech will transform our society, I know it will change everything. I’m not disputing that.

I’m disputing the absolute fucking adoration and hype that you and others are gushing all over this tech like it’s daddy’s big fat knob that has to be lubricated constantly. It’s disgusting because right now it’s all hype and bullshit and exaggeration. It’s making everything worse. We’re a LONG fucking way from transforming humanity for the better with this, that goal is far further away and on the other side of a lot worse hardships that people are cowardly dodging, and none of this is going into helping the people who need the help the most in our world.

It’s so very yay and happy that it makes you feel important at work using shortcuts. I’m sure that you feel special being able to be lazier at work. Yippee. Now please fix the internet while we wait for things to get as good as you’re promising. Please, fix it. It’s getting worse every second with slop we didn’t ask for. I’m sure with all your shortcuts you can do the work of a team to solve this mess.

  • And you’re going to be waiting a suspiciously long time before your life is tangibly, positively impacted by any of this. Nothing is changing for the better any time soon, and many things are going to get worse. The carrot will always be a few years away.

The worst part is I want it to succeed and live up to it’s promises, but I am old enough to be smart enough to know that as a species, and I fucking cannot stress this enough, not that fucking special. We do the same sad shit over and over, this is tech promises that will change the world, but not soon enough to actually help because they want to make money from it. That’s the hard truth, the real pill you and all the kids watching this shit are going to have to slowly… ever so slowly… swallow.

  • It’s pretty insane how negative people are.

It’s not negativity, it’s reigning in unwarranted faith and adoration, this is a technology, a product that is largely being made by and for corporate mega-giants who are not going to steer this towards betterment of anyone or anything, just like every other technology, it will take decades or more for any of us to see this take the form of the life changing wonder that too many people are already seeing in it. If you can stop being impressed by how easy it is to mirror human traits back at us, you will let these companies know that you do NOT want advertising AI’s in your fucking toaster.

You want the real thing? Then put some pressure where it belongs and don’t be a hype-person for advertising platforms and plagiarism simulators.

  • I can talk to something that’s not human all day long, the question is does that thing have qualia? Does it experience? Do my words have even the most abstract meaning to it? Most animals experience even if they don’t have language. What LLM’s are, are simply mirrors. Very complicated mirrors.

It’s fine, it’s great, it’s a step towards making actual intelligences that experience the world in some way. But don’t get swept up in this extremely premature hype over something that only looks magical because you wildly overestimate and over-essentialize the human being. Lets have some fucking humility out there in tech-bro land, even just a little. You’re not that special and the predictive text programs we’re making are not worth the reverence people are giving them. Yet.

  • People who say shit like that don’t just need to be unsubbed from, they need a special department of the US government to land a chopper outside their house, deploy a team of skilled face-slappers to smash through the person’s window with flashbangs, tie him to a chair and just slap him across the face as hard as they can and then leave.

I would pay my share in taxes to make this unit a reality.
